The Samsung Galaxy S21 series may bring a highly-requested feature back to life. I’m a bit skeptical about this rumor, but it does come from a rather reliable source, so.
What we’re talking about here is a headphone jack. A tipster called ‘Mauri QHD’ claims that the headphone jack could make its way back to Samsung’s flagships with the Galaxy S21 series.
The Galaxy S21 may bring a highly-requested feature back to life as a “risky experiment”
Samsung is allegedly considering to bring back the headphone jack, as a “risky experiment”. The company is allegedly planning to do that next year, and keep it around for about a year to see if the experiment will succeed.
The way Samsung sees it is… that it will do great with the media, and therefore provide a lot of great publicity for the company. That’s at least what the source is claiming is the case.
Truth be said, we did not expect a report like this to surface. It seemed like Samsung is done with the headphone jack for good, but now, not so much.
The Sony Xperia 1 II does include a headphone jack, and the pixel 5 is also rumored to feature it, just like the Pixel 4a. So, Samsung may conduct a test with the Galaxy S21 series, and see the reactions, and the impact on sales.
The Samsung Galaxy S21 series is expected to launch in Q1 2021. If the company manages to stick to its release cycle, the series will arrive in either February or March next year.
The Galaxy S21 series may bring back a headphone jack, but it won’t include an under-display camera, it seems. A recent rumor said that Samsung isn’t planning on including such tech on either of its Galaxy S21 devices.
The ZTE Axon 20 5G will become the very first smartphone with an under-display camera
Samsung will either wait until the Galaxy Note 21, or the Galaxy S22 to implement something like that. The very first phone with such tech will arrive on September 1, the ZTE Axon 20 5G.
ZTE confirmed the news quite recently, so it’s a bit surprising Samsung is planning to skip that tech this time around. Do note that the company did not confirm anything, though, so things may change.
The Galaxy S21 series will likely include a display camera hole, similar to the Galaxy S20 series. You can also expect to get really thin bezels, premium build, Android 11 with Samsung’s One UI, and so on.
It’s still a bit early to go into detail when it comes to the Galaxy S21, though. Do note that the series probably won’t include a ToF camera, just like the Galaxy Note 20.
