The Expert Imaging and Sound Association (EISA) have just announced their 2020-2021 awards for best mobile devices of the year. Here are the winners:
The OnePlus 8 Pro has grabbed the Best Smartphone award. The latest OnePlus flagship "raises the bar for high-end smartphones," EISA notes. The judges were particularly impressed with the device's 120Hz display that offers QHD+ resolution, IP68 dust and water resistance rating, and its "soft-touch finish."
The company's Warp Charge 30 Wireless technology, which can charge up to 50 percent of the 4,510mAh battery in just 30 minutes, was also a factor in deciding the winner. "This device puts the ‘smart’ into smartphone," the judges note.
EISA is a group comprising 61 of the world’s most respected consumer electronics magazines from 29 countries around the world.
EISA Awards 2020-2021 winners
The OPPO Find X2 Pro picked up the Best Advanced Smartphone award at EISA Awards 2020-2021. Once again, its 6.7-inch AMOLED HDR 120Hz display left the judges very impressed. Capacious 512 GB internal storage, triple camera system, and 65W fast charging make the Find X2 Pro "OPPO’s best smartphone yet."
The Best Smartphone Camera award went to Huawei's P40 Pro. The device features a 50-megapixel primary camera with phase detection auto-focus and optical image stabilization (OIS). There's also a 12-megapixel periscope telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom, a 40-megapixel ultra-wide "Cine Camera," and a ToF 3D depth sensor on the back of the Huawei P40 Pro. This phone "snaps stunning daily photos and night shots of unmatched quality without unwanted noise or aberrations."
Next up is the Best Foldable Smartphone award which was picked up by the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip. There literally aren't many devices competing in this category and the Z Flip is certainly a deserving winner. The "old-school" clamshell concept means it becomes half the size when folded. The Galaxy Z Flip is "an inventive, impressive and practical smartphone."
There was one more category for smartphones at EISA Awards 2020-2021. The Sony Xperia 1 II was the pick for the Best Multimedia Smartphone. The judges say this device is "a multimedia powerhouse tailor-made for photo, film, and music enthusiasts."
Sony's advanced Alpha cameras and its Photography Pro and Cinematography Pro features impressed the judges. They also praised the device's 6.5-inch 4K HDR OLED display. Dolby Atmos sound with support for the immersive 360 Reality Audio music format makes this phone ideal for media consumption. With the PlayStation4 DUALSHOCK4 controller, gamers can enjoy console-like gameplay on this device.
Huawei wins one more award
In addition to the five categories for smartphones, EISA Awards 2020-2021 also covered smartwatches, headphones, speakers, and other mobile devices. The Huawei Watch GT 2 was the pick for the Best Smartwatch award. Its AMOLED display, physical controls, fitness features, and excellent two-week battery life were praised.
Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2 grabbed the Best In-ear Headphones award. LG also had something to cheer about as its XBOOM Go PL7 speakers won the Best Mobile Speaker award at EISA Awards 2020-2021.
Other EISA Awards 2020-2021 winners include Bowers & Wilkins PX5 (best on-ear headphones), Dali IO-6 (best headphones), and FiiO M11 Pro (best mobile audio player).
