Samsung has finally opened pre-orders for the new Galaxy Z Flip 5G.
The Galaxy Z Flip 5G is priced at $1449, so it is about $70 more than the original Galaxy Z Flip, which isn't bad considering it's a much newer processor and adds 5G. But you can get it for just $800, if you trade in your current smartphone.
For a limited time, Samsung is going to give you up to $650 for your trade-in instead of just $410. Which makes this a really slick deal if you wanted a foldable smartphone.
There are a couple of other freebies included with the Galaxy Z Flip 5G, like a month of Obe for free, and some credit towards GlamSquad.
Samsung always throws in some freebies for pre-orders, though these are a bit odd, for a foldable phone. But hey, they are still free.
The Galaxy Z Flip 5G is going to ship by August 7, and will be available in Mystic Bronze and Mystic Gray.
What's new in the Galaxy Z Flip 5G?
There's not much that is new with the Galaxy Z Flip 5G, compared to the LTE version that Samsung announced earlier this year. The only main difference is the chipset.
Samsung upgraded to the Snapdragon 865 (from the Snapdragon 845) in the Galaxy Z Flip 5G. Which is going to be a pretty big upgrade for performance actually. And that does bring support for 5G.
The other change is the new colors. So the Galaxy Z Flip 5G is sporting the Mystic Bronze and Mystic Gray which we are expecting to see more of when Unpacked takes place next week, with more of Samsung's new products. And to be honest, these colors look better than the original Galaxy Z Flip's colors. So that might be another reason to pick one up right now.
This is one of the cheaper foldable smartphones out there and it also gives people some nostalgia. Back to the good old days of flip phones.
Samsung was expected to announce the Galaxy Z Flip 5G at Unpacked next week, but the company decided to announce it early (last week) instead. Though it won't ship til after Unpacked. And there are still quite a few devices that are rumored to be coming at Unpacked. That includes the Galaxy Note 20, Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 2, Galaxy Watch 3, and the Galaxy Buds Live. Of course, Samsung could also have a few other surprises up their sleeves for us, but all of this has already leaked.
