The much-awaited OnePlus Nord will come pre-loaded with Google Phone, Messages, and Duo apps. OnePlus has officially confirmed about this new change via its OnePlus Nord Instagram account.

According to the company, these apps will offer the Smoothest-est experience to the user. Google Duo is one of the many Google apps that come pre-loaded on all the latest Android smartphones. However, the Phone and Messages apps from Google are not mandatory for the Android OEMs to include in their software.

OnePlus Nord will have pre-loaded Google Phone & Messages Apps

Interestingly, the flagship OnePlus 8 smartphones still come with OnePlus Phone and Messages apps. However, the company could replace these apps with Google apps in the future with an OTA update. Moreover, there are already a few smartphone manufacturers who are using the Google Phone and Messages apps.

The one good thing about this change is the support for RCS (Rich Communication Services) Messaging. With RCS messaging, Android users can use the default messaging app for group chats, sending images and videos, and more. It basically works just like iMessage on Apple devices.

However, the company also worked a lot on its stock Phone and Messages apps. Just last year, the company introduced India-specific features to its Messages app that include automatic categorization, spam filters, and quick actions.

OnePlus Nord will be priced under $500

The OnePlus Nord, along with the company’s first TWS earbuds, will be unveiled at an AR (Augmented Reality) launch event on July 21st. In his interview with MKBHD, Carl Pei, the co-founder of OnePlus, gave us a glimpse at the first look at these two new products.

As per the company, the OnePlus Nord will first launch in India and Europe. However, OnePlus is also looking to bring it to the US in the near future. Furthermore, the company also confirmed that its new budget smartphone will cost less than $500.

Like the flagship OnePlus 8, the affordable OnePlus Nord will also sport a 90Hz AMOLED display and support 5G connectivity. In the camera department, we can expect a 48MP quad-camera setup on the rear and dual selfie cameras on the front.

Obviously, the company is also sticking with the latest Warp Charge 30 fast charging technology. Under the hood, it features the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G 5G Mobile Platform.

We’ll have to wait one more day to find out the complete details about this new budget smartphone from OnePlus. Especially in India, the OnePlus Nord could become the most affordable 5G smartphone.
