'OnePlus Pods' TWS Earbuds Spotted In Android 11 Beta

Something quite interesting got spotted in Android 11 Beta for the OnePlus 8 series, the 'OnePlus Pods'. The 'oneplus_tws_pods_funtion' string was spotted (amongst various other parts of the code), clearly stating these are TWS earbuds.

Android 11 Beta suggests that OnePlus Buds may be called OnePlus Pods after all

Now, it was earlier reported that the company's TWS earbuds will be called the OnePlus Buds, not Pods. Is that about to change? Well, it's possible, though, on the other hand, this may be just their name in the code.

The OnePlus Nord changed its name several times via various rumors thus far. Well, the same seems to be happening with the OnePlus Buds as well.

If we had to guess, we'd say that the OnePlus Buds name remains. That name was reported by Max J. recently, and unless something changed drastically, we don't see OnePlus changing it to 'Pods'.

The 'OnePlus Pods' name did get spotted in Android 11 Beta, but that would be all too confusing. These earbuds will resemble Apple's AirPods already, so we do hope OnePlus won't use the 'Pods' name as well.

Speaking of which, the OnePlus Buds / Pods design did surface already. The earbuds will resemble Apple AirPods. The case will be a bit different, and it will include an LED status light on the front.

The OnePlus Buds will probably be a rebranded OPPO Enco Free earbuds. In other words, we're looking at open-ear earphones here, with a really compact charging case.

These TWS earphones will launch next month

We're not sure what colors will OnePlus offer, but we do know these earbuds will become official in July. They will launch alongside the OnePlus Nord / Nord by OnePlus handset.

That device is the company's upcoming mid-range smartphone. It was initially called the OnePlus 8 Lite, then OnePlus Z, and it seems like the OnePlus Nord will be its final name.

The OnePlus Buds / Pods will be the company's very first pair of TWS (Truly Wireless) earphones. OnePlus did announce two Bluetooth earphones already, but those were not TWS earphones.

Consumers have been waiting for a product like that from the company for a while now. These earphones will likely support wireless charging, by the way, while a Type-C port will also be included.

We don't know the exact launch date of these earbuds just yet, but do expect them in July. OnePlus will probably announce the launch date in the near future.
