Pete Lau has confirmed that the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro pricing won't exceed $1,000. He confirmed that to the Business Insider. He was referring to the price tag in the US, but the same will probably be the case elsewhere, after price conversion.

Just to be clear, we'll reiterate once again, both the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro will support 5G. OnePlus has no plans to introduce 4G variants of these devices, so we're talking about 5G models.

Those two smartphones will cost more than the OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro, that's for sure. That's something Pete Lau confirmed a while back. OnePlus usually raises prices with each year, and this time around 5G will also contribute to that.

OnePlus' CEO refused to confirm the exact price tag for the two phones, but at least now we know that the OnePlus 8 series pricing won't exceed $1,000.

It is quite clear now that the most expensive OnePlus 8 handset will be more affordable than the most affordable Galaxy S20 unit. The Galaxy S20 pricing starts at $999 in the US, and goes all the way up to $1,399.

It remains to be seen if the OnePlus 8 Pro will be more affordable than the recently-announced LG flagship, though. We're talking about the LG V60, which is also a 5G smartphone. That device is priced at $900.

While talking to the Business Insider, Pete Lau also confirmed that the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro will both be fueled by the Snapdragon 865. That is something we already knew, though.

The OnePlus 8 series will become official on April 14. OnePlus had recently confirmed that date for the launch of its new flagships. We'll be watching an online-only event, by the way.

The two phones will look almost identical

The OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro look almost identical, but they will be somewhat different on the inside. Both phones will be made out of metal and glass, and include curved displays. A display camera hole will also be a part of both phones.

The 'Pro' model will be larger, and it will include an extra camera on the back. The OnePlus 8 Pro will also be the only one to support 30W fast wireless charging, and IP68 certification for water and dust resistance.

It will actually become the first OnePlus smartphone to offer those two features. Both phones will support Warp Charge 30T fast wired charging, though.

The OnePlus 8 Pro will also offer LPDDR5 RAM, while the regular model will probably be limited to LPDDR4X, but we'll see. UFS 3.0 flash storage will be a part of both phones.
