That is actually fairly impressive, considering how the economy is doing right now with this pandemic. However, it’s also worth noting that it is likely that OnePlus had less stock of the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro than it normally does for pre-orders.
So while it sounds like good news for OnePlus, it likely is still fewer sales than it had for the 7 and 7T series last year.
When will the OnePlus 8 series be restocked?
Right now, it appears that the OnePlus 8 series will be restocked in time for the launch on April 29 and 22nd, respectively. Which also means that you’ll likely miss out on the Launch Day bonus that OnePlus was offering for those that pre-ordered.
The OnePlus 8 is set to launch later on April 29, with the OnePlus 8 Pro on April 22. Though, the OnePlus 8 Pro says it’ll be in stock in 14 days. So it is likely that if you didn’t get your pre-order in already, that it might be later than the launch day, when you get it.
It’s a little surprising to see the OnePlus 8 series do so well, with pre-orders. Considering a number of people were disappointed with what OnePlus put out this year. And the major price hikes definitely did not help them in that regard. The OnePlus 8 Pro is a whopping $230 more than the OnePlus 7 Pro was last year. Now a good bit of the price hike is due to the fact that there is only 5G models available. And 5G is expensive. But OnePlus is no longer the “budget flagship” with prices starting at $699 for the OnePlus 8 and $899 for the 8 Pro.
This is good news though for OnePlus as it does look like there is still interest for its phones, despite the pandemic and millions being out of jobs right now. The numbers will likely be even better once Amazon, T-Mobile and Verizon start selling the OnePlus 8 series in a couple of weeks. However, they may also have limited stock on April 29, if today is anything to go by.
OnePlus does have a pretty loyal following, and they do tend to pre-order their phones when OnePlus launches a new one. And that’s likely what’s happening here. Either way, if you missed out on getting your pre-order in, looks like you’ll have to wait until April 29.
