Chromebook fans can now pick up ASUS premium-grade Chromebook Flip C436 for just $799. That's based on recent reports citing the appearance of the 2-in-1 Chrome OS laptop at the official ASUS store and Amazon.
The variant showcased at the ASUS store is not the most powerful version of this particular Chromebook. Posted specifically as model C436FA in the US, this variant ships with a generation 10 Intel Core i5 processor backed by 16GB RAM. That features 512GB of PCIe SSD storage, allowing plenty of space for movies, pictures, Linux software, apps, and games.
Comparatively, the ASUS Chromebook Flip C436 is still expected to arrive with up to a 10th-Gen Intel Core i7-10510U processor. On the budget end, it is expected to ship with an Intel Core i3-10110U, 4GB RAM, and 128GB NVMe storage.
The present model then sits squarely in the middle in terms of specifications.
What makes this ASUS Chromebook a premium device?
Regardless of which model is purchased, the latest member of the ASUS "Flip" family is a genuine premium gadget. The company built the device on an almost identical platform, outwardly, to its extremely popular Chromebook Flip C434.
That means it delivers a 14-inch FHD NanoEdge display packed into a magnesium alloy shell measuring 13.7mm thin. That's attached via an ErgoLift Hinge for more ergonomic typing, as well as use in a tent, tablet, stand, or clamshell configuration. The device tips the scales at just 2.2lbs.
But ASUS also packed in a fingerprint sensor and a backlit keyboard standard. That's on top of some of the latest technology the Chrome OS market has to offer. For instance, Bluetooth 5.0 and Wi-Fi 6 support are built-in, right out-of-the-box.
Topping off the list of brand new features, this Chromebook also brings Universal stylus support. That means that any USI-certified stylus should work with any model of this particular Chromebook. So artists and productivity-focused buyers can take advantage of up to 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity with the Chromebook Flip C436.
For ports, the Chromebook Flip C436 features two USB-C ports, a 3.5mm audio combo jack, and a microSD card slot.
Where can you buy ASUS Chromebook Flip C436?
Now, widespread sources have reported that the ASUS Chromebook Flip C436 is available to buy right now. The device is reportedly available via both Amazon and the ASUS digital storefront with a starting price of just $799. For colorations, buyers are offered either "transparent silver" or an iridescent "aerogel white." But the laptop has apparently since been removed from both sites.
The implication here is that ASUS simply wasn't quite ready for launch yet when the pages went live. Its appearance at multiple online stores does imply that it is close, however. That's compounded with the fact that the official ASUS landing site for the Chromebook Flip C436 is also still live. The page comes complete with a somewhat blank "Where to buy" page.
Other models have reportedly been spotted too and that follows on a pre-sale that got its start back in late January. So buyers should, by all accounts, be able to pick up the gadget sooner than later.
