The OnePlus 8 Pro could feature water and dust resistance, if a new tip is to be believed. Max J. tweeted out something rather interesting recently, obviously hinting at water and dust resistance for the OnePlus 8 Pro, maybe even the OnePlus 8.
If you take a look at the provided image above, you'll be able to see the whole tweet. He did add, as a comment, that this is just a concept image. This is not the first time Max J. did something like this.
The OnePlus 8 Pro could offer water and dust resistance in addition to wireless charging
He is one of the most popular tipsters around, and tends to release such information. He recently suggested that the OnePlus 8 Pro will support wireless charging. Soon after that, OnePlus joined the WPC (Wireless Power Consortium).
Now, Max J. did not specifically mention IP68 certification, or anything of the sort, but the 'Water' caption between a sketch of the phone clearly hints at some sort of water and dust resistance.
If we had to guess, we'd say this is IP68 certification, as that is the most common when it comes to modern flagships.
The OnePlus 7, 7 Pro, 7T, and 7T Pro did offer water and dust resistance, to a degree, but without a proper certification. In other words, even though they were somewhat protected, OnePlus suggested that you should not push their limits, and the company did not guarantee anything.
Well, things will change if it comes to the OnePlus 8 Pro, or even both OnePlus 8 flagships. The OnePlus 8 Lite, if it launches, almost certainly will not offer it, though.
OnePlus' flagships are expected to arrive at the end of March or beginning of April
The OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro are rumored to arrive sooner than expected. The two phones will allegedly launch either at the end of March, or at the beginning of April.
The OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro were announced back in May last year, so the company was expected to announce their direct successors in May as well. OnePlus seemingly opted to jump the gun, though.
The OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro will look almost identical. They will both be made out of metal and glass, with a display camera hole in the top-left corner. Both phones will offer curved displays, and multiple cameras on the back.
The Snapdragon 865 will fuel both of these smartphones, while OnePlus will include LPDDR5 RAM. UFS 3.0 flash storage will also be included.
The OnePlus 8 Pro is rumored to include a larger display than its sibling. The device is said to sport a 6.5-inch display, compared to a 6.4-inch panel on the OnePlus 8. We'll see how accurate that info is, though.
