Huawei has scheduled a new press event for February 24, and the Mate Xs may be presented there. Huawei was supposed to host a press conference in Barcelona, as part of MWC 2020, but that tradeshow got canceled.

As most of you already know, many high profile companies canceled their participation at MWC 2020. That forced GSMA to cancel the whole tradeshow, pretty much. Coronavirus did its part, it made a lot of companies both scared and careful at the same time.

That being said, Huawei has decided to reschedule its MWC 2020 event, and turn it into a virtual event, even though it will be a physical one at the same time. This will be a global event, as the company is marketing it both globally, and in China.

The Huawei Mate Xs will probably be the main focus of February 24 event

The company says it will announce a "new range of products" during this virtual launch, which will take place in Madrid, by the way. It will start at 2 PM CET on February 24, and the Huawei Mate Xs will almost certainly be the star of that event.

The Huawei Mate Xs is essentially a new variant of the Mate X that launched last year. It's an improved variant of that device, and it was already shown in China, kind of.

We never got all the details regarding that phone, and Huawei will share them during this launch, hopefully.

The Mate Xs will look almost the same as the original Mate X. The company did make some improvements to its build, though. That device will also come with the Kirin 990 SoC, not the Kirin 980, as the original.

The phone will support 5G connectivity thanks to that processor. Huawei will hopefully make the device available globally soon after this launch event. The original never made it to markets outside of China.

Several other products will probably be presented

In addition to the Mate Xs, Huawei is also expected to announce the Mate Pad Pro 5G, and Matebook X Pro models. On top of that, a smartwatch announcement is also expected.

As soon as the livestream ends, the company will display interactive demos for consumers to experience. So, even though this is called a 'virtual event', Huawei will actually offer participants a chance to use its devices in Madrid.

For those of you who are wondering, no, the Huawei P40 series will not launch during this event. Huawei is preparing a separate launch for those devices at the end of March.

This event will almost certainly put a large focus on the Mate Xs, even though we're expecting to see quite a few devices being announced. Huawei will livestream this event, we've embedded that link below.
