This is not the first time we're hearing about the S Pen. Max Weinbach suggested at the end of last month that the Galaxy Fold 2 will include an S Pen. This is just another confirmation of that fact, more or less.
The Galaxy S20 Ultra camera setup is probably out of the question
Regarding the camera setup, well, it seems like the Galaxy Fold 2 will not include the Galaxy S20 Ultra's 108-megapixel camera. Such a huge camera setup would make the phone too thick, it seems.
Chances are that a recent rumor is accurate, the Galaxy Fold 2 will probably include the Galaxy S20+ camera setup. That is not a huge disappointment, as the Galaxy S20+ has great cameras, that are quite capable.
The source shared some additional information regarding the Galaxy Fold 2. It seems like Samsung is doing its best to secure UTG (Ultra Thin Glass) for the device.
As many of you know, the Galaxy Z Flip comes with UTG, while it has a plastic layer on top of it, for protection. Well, Samsung is doing its best to do the same with the Galaxy Fold 2, although that may be a problem.
It all depends on if there will be sufficient yield. The company is probing additional suppliers for such glass, and it's quite important that it succeeds. Why? Well, not only because it will add more quality to the phone, but because of the S Pen.
A glass layer would offer a number of advantages for the S Pen. If the Galaxy Fold 2 ends up sporing a plastic display, like the original Galaxy Fold, well, that won't be nearly as good of a solution as UTG.
The Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 is expected to arrive in the second half of this year. It is actually rumored to land in Q3, maybe even at the same time as the Galaxy Note 20.
That would make sense, as the original Galaxy Fold launched with the Galaxy S10, while the Galaxy Z Flip arrived with the Galaxy S20. Samsung never held a separate launch event for a foldable smartphone.
The Galaxy Fold 2 and Galaxy Note 20 will probably include the same S Pen
Also, if both the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Fold 2 end up sporting an S Pen, chances are it will be the very same stylus. That way, it makes even more sense to announce them at the same time.
The Galaxy Fold 2 is expected to resemble its predecessor, but it almost certainly won't include that unseemly display notch. It will sport a display camera hole instead, and you'll have more display real estate to work with.
