This information has been confirmed by the company's Vice President, Brian Shen. He said that there are quite a few obstacles still in the way, that are preventing OPPO from mass-producing such a phone.
Under-display camera not coming to the OPPO Find X2 due to various obstacles
Following that, he said that it's "unlikely" we'll see such technology in the OPPO Find X2. He did say that the display is a huge focus point for OPPO, and that we'll see "a lot of other industry-leading features" implemented in the phone.
It seems like OPPO has been getting a ton of questions regarding under-display tech, which is why the company's VP decided to address them. He even mentioned as much in his tweet.
Mr. Shen did not elaborate on the mass-production issues, but it seems like we'll have to wait a bit longer to get such technology. Under-display camera tech is expected to put both notches and punch-holes to rest.
Such technology will make it possible for OEMs to offer consumers full screen real-estate, without any obstructions. Many people don't really care about notches and display holes, but they can be really annoying, and we're sure that some people will be relieved to see them gone.
Mr. Shen also did not say whether the Find X2 will include a display notch, hole, or a pop-up camera, perhaps. The Find X2 will become the company's new flagship, though, and it is expected to arrive soon.
The Find X2 is expected to become official at MWC 2020. We do have some basic information about the device, at this point. The company's exec already confirmed that the Find X2 will be thicker than the Reno3 Pro.
On top of that, we do know that the device will include Sony's sensor on the back. That is pretty much it as far as official info is concerned. We can take a few guesses along with that, though.
The device will be fueled by the Snapdragon 865, and include 65W charging
The Find X2 will almost certainly be made out of metal and glass. The device will be fueled by the Snapdragon 865 SoC by Qualcomm. Its 5G variant will probably launch as well, with the Snapdragon 865G.
The device is also expected to include a lot of RAM, and storage, while it will probably support 65W fast wired charging. Wireless charging may also be included in the package.
There you have it. The OPPO Find X2 may not include the under-display camera tech, but it will pack a lot of punch regardless. MWC 2020 is shaping up to be quite an exciting trade show, as many OEMs will show us their new offerings.
