Now that we know when Unpacked is happening, we are starting to get a ton of leaks about the new devices coming from Samsung. And now, we're learning about the specs of the Galaxy S20+, and they look pretty darn good.
Yesterday we saw the specs of the Galaxy S20 Ultra, which were very impressive, but the Galaxy S20+ is also pretty good. Especially if it is going to be at a cheaper price. Though we likely won't get pricing details until closer to Unpacked – which is set for February 11 in San Francisco.
These specs come from Max Weinbach, who has been responsible for most of the leaks for the Galaxy S20 so far.
Galaxy S20+ specs sheet includes a huge 4500mAh capacity battery
The specs of the Galaxy S20+ are really good actually. We're looking at a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED display, which is capable of 120Hz refresh rate. It is sporting a 3200×1440 resolution. That's going to make it a bit taller than the Galaxy S10+, which was 3040×1440. And as Weinbach showed in another tweet, that shows the Galaxy S20+ and Galaxy S10+ side-by-side, it is indeed taller.
Powering the Galaxy S20+, we're looking at a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 or the Exynos 990. It's possible that the Snapdragon 865 is going to be in 5G markets, and Exynos 990 in 4G LTE markets. That would follow along with another rumor we've seen, stating that the US will only get 5G models.
There is going to be 12GB of RAM, across all storage variants. When it comes to storage, there is 128GB to 512GB of UFS 3.0 storage. It's likely there will be a 256GB model in the middle, though that was not mentioned in the tweet. And the Galaxy Note 9 did launch with just 128GB and 512GB options. So there is precedent here.
Triple cameras and TOF
The camera module will be pretty packed this time around. There is going to be a 64-megapixel main sensor, along with two 12-megapixel sensors. These will mostly likely be ultrawide and telephoto lenses. There is also a Time of Flight or ToF sensor included too. This we saw with the Galaxy Note 10+ last year, and it should proide some additional information for Portrait mode and such.
Finally, there is a 4500mAh capacity battery included with 25W fast charging. It appears that the 45W fast charging is saved for the Galaxy S20 Ultra. And there is an Ultrasonic fingerprint sensor under the display. Though, we are not quite sure if that is Qualcomm's new ultrasonic sensor or not.
Samsung is going to announce the Galaxy S20 series at its Unpacked event on February 11 in San Francisco. So there's still a few more weeks before it will be made official. But it is looking pretty impressive so far.
