OnePlus hosted one of its 'Open Ears' forums in New York back in December. OnePlus organizes such gatherings from time to time in order to talk to its consumers, get some feedback, and ideas for new features. Well, this Open Ears forum was highly focused on videography, and OnePlus has committed to bringing some of those features to its smartphones.
OnePlus will be bringing a slew of videography features to its smartphones
The company references the Open Ears forum in New York via a thread on its official forums. The company highlighted some concerns raised by users, and responded to them. As part of that, OnePlus committed to bringing some new camera features to its phones.
The company said that white balance is its 'first priority and main goal', to make the cameras consistent. Speaking of consistency, some users reported autofocus inconsistency. The company says that it was unable to replicate the issue, but that a software update for autofocus is coming this year.
OnePlus also said that skin tone improvement is one of its main goals when it comes to cameras. It said that such an update can be expected in a future software update.
The company admitted that sharpness needs to be improved across all scenarios. OnePlus said that it is looking for a balance between sharpness and noise.
OnePlus also said that 4K super stabilization will be supported in some of the upcoming devices. Video HDR has also been something the company has been working on, so you can expect improvements in the video department.
Panning shots stabilization and smoothness will be improved via upcoming updates. The camera speed overall has also been brought up, and that is something OnePlus will improve upon.
OnePlus' Gallery app will get proper video-editing tools
The company plans on completely updating its Gallery app's video tools. So, you can expect some proper video-editing tools to become available in the future.
Pro video mode may not arrive in the near future, but it is in OnePlus' plans, that's for sure. Night mode for night video is yet another feature that may not arrive soon, but it's something the company has been working on.
Light painting mode will not become available, while the company still hasn't "found a killer scenario for AR in video".
Single-handed zooming option may also become available in the future. Some users find it difficult to use the camera with one hand, and that is something that is already an issue over at OnePlus.
That is pretty much everything that the company shared. There are a couple of additional points that OnePlus mentioned in its forum post, if you're interested in checking it out. All in all, plenty of camera-related improvements are coming.
