OnePlus has started pushing out a new beta update to the OnePlus 7 series. This new update brings 'optimized charging' feature to the OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro, and is marked as Open Beta 7 update.

OnePlus says that this new feature is meant to "improve battery performance based on usage". You will see it if you navigate to Settings -> Battery, and there you will see the 'Optimized charging' option.

We're not entirely sure what this is yet, as we haven't installed the update yet. Its name is quite revealing though, and it seems to indicate some sort of different charging pattern that is supposed to safeguard the phone's battery. In other words, this is probably slower charging of some sort which will be utilized when you don't need a quick top-up (during the night, perhaps). We're only guessing, though.

'Optimized charging' is here, but it's not the only change that this update brought to the OnePlus 7 series

This new 'optimized charging' feature is not the only change that arrived to the OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro, though. Not even close, as there are quite a few entries in the changelog.

In addition to the new charging feature, OnePlus also optimized RAM management on both phones. The company also fixed an issue with the auto-record toast message in the contact app.

Some phones have been experiencing an issue with the wrong time format in the status bar. Well, that should be fixed here as well.

'Chromatic effect' option for Reading mode has been added as well

OnePlus has added yet another feature via this update, for the Reading mode. The company added the Chromatic effect option to adapt color range and saturation intelligently. This is supposed to offer a better reading experience.

You can find this option by going to Settings -> Display -> Reading mode -> Turn on reading mode -> Chromatic effect.

On top of all that, the company says that it improved system stability, and issued general bug fixes to both devices, as per usual.

If you navigate to this link, you'll be able to download this update manually. It should become available to all of you who are running Open Beta software, though. It may not be available straight away, but it will soon.

These new features and fixes are expected to make their way to a stable update in the near future. We don't know when, but probably in the coming weeks.
