This was a pretty big deal from Amazon leading up to Christmas. But it's still available. So if Santa didn't bring you an Echo and some smart light bulbs, you can get it yourself. Right now, you can get the Echo Dot and a two-pack of Philips Hue bulbs for just $35.

The Echo Dot is currently still priced at $25, and the two Philips Hue bulbs will cost you just $10 more. That's a really good price for a couple of smart bulbs actually. Even though these are just the white bulbs, they still normally cost at least $20 each.

Philips Hue light bulbs are compatible with the Hue app as well as Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri. Now, normally you would need a hub for the Hue lights to work. That's why you typically get the starter kit. But because the Echo Dot is included, that works as a hub. Since the Philips Hue lights work with Zigbee and Echo Dot has Zigbee support now.

These lights can be grouped together, or turned on and off separately in the Hue app or by using your voice with the Echo Dot. These aren't the colored bulbs, unfortunately. But still work quite well.

Now the Echo Dot is a smart speaker from Amazon that does of course have Alexa built-in. Allowing you to control your smart home products with your voice. Alexa can also answer questions that you might have – though she's not quite as good as Google Assistant. And Alexa can also tell you the weather, traffic, read off the latest news and so much more. Alexa is always getting better, so you'll be able to do a lot with it.
