Amazon has released its holiday calendar, depicting when the absolute latest day is to order holiday gifts from Amazon and have them arrive in time for the big day.
The last day for free shipping from Amazon – on orders of $25 or more – is going to be December 14. Those who are willing to pay for shipping, but not Prime, then your cut off is going to be December 18 – a week from today.
The last day for free delivery with Prime is going to be Sunday, December 22. Now you can still buy on the 23rd and 24th from Amazon and get next-day or same-day delivery. As that is included with Prime. But if you are not a Prime member, you could end up paying up to $9.99 per item for either of these fast delivery services. So keep that in mind.
Some items are already backordered into the new year
While you do have specific dates for when you can order items and have them arrive in time for the big day, there are still a number of items that are backordered into the new year.
Some of Amazon's Echo products aren't slated to be in stock until the end of January – with the Echo Dot with Clock in particular being January 31, 2020.
So you're going to want to check out the shipping dates for some of these products, to make sure that they are going to be available for Christmas this year.
The absolute latest you can order is 9:30AM Local time on Christmas Eve
Even for same-day shipping, Amazon has a cutoff time for items that would arrive in time for Christmas. Which is going to be 9:30AM local time on December 24.
The reason for this, is likely so that their drivers can get home at a decent time, instead of dropping off packages when Santa would be arriving at your home.
For some, getting packages after Christmas may not be a big deal. Seeing as you might not see everyone on Christmas day, and see them later in the week. Before New Years Day. But if you do need to have it for Christmas day, you better get to ordering. There's not a whole lot of time left to get your order in before its too late.
