Huawei has just announced a new mid-range smartphone in Europe, the Nova 5T. That handset actually looks quite sleek, and has thinner bezels than Google’s new flagship, the Pixel 4. The two phones are not really related, it’s just interesting how Google decided to go against the flow.
This phone is made out of metal and glass, and it does have a “chin” below the display. That chin is barely thicker than the rest of its bezels, though. A display camera hole is also a part of this phone’s design. That camera hole is placed in the top-left corner, as you can see in the provided images.
The Huawei Nova 5T features five cameras overall
The Huawei Nova 5T includes five cameras overall. There are four included on its back, and one on its front. Its rear-facing cameras are vertically-aligned, well, most of them. One is placed on the side. An LED flash is placed below the phone’s camera setup, and Huawei’s branding is also visible on the back.
Cameras are amongst the main selling points for this smartphone, so let’s talk more about them. On the back, you’ll find a 48-megapixel main sensor (f/1.8 aperture), along with a 16-megapixel wide-angle camera (f/2.2 aperture). In addition to those two cameras, two 2-megapixel units are also included. One 2-megapixel camera comes with a macro lens, while the other with a depth lens.
Huawei also included a 32-megapixel camera (f/2.0, fixed focal length) on the front side of the phone. As you can see, Huawei opted for rather large main sensors, both on the front and the back.
This handset comes equipped with the AI HDR+ shooting mode, which takes a number of images in one shot and then merges them for the best result. Super Night Mode is also a part of this package, while it uses AI Image Stabilization (AIS) and Intelligent Light Sensing in order to boost night photography.
The Huawei Nova 5T features a 6.26-inch fullHD+ (2340 x 1080) FullView display. That display comes with rounded corners, as you can see in the provided images.
It is fueled by the Kirin 980, the same chip that fuels the Huawei P30 flagships
This smartphone is fueled by the Kirin 980 64-bit octa-core processor. That chip is no longer Huawei’s most powerful processor, but it’s still one best the company has to offer. This chip fueled the company’s flagships both in 2018 and 2019, including the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro.
The Huawei Nova 5T includes 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Android 9 Pie comes pre-installed on the phone, along with Huawei’s Emotion UI (EMUI) 9.1 skin.
A 3,750mAh battery is also included in this package, and it is not removable. The phone supports 5V/4.5A Super Charging, but it is also compatible with 9V/2A charging. The company says that it will take you about 1.5 hours to fully charge this phone (0-100-percent).
The device supports 4G LTE connectivity, while it comes with Bluetooth 5.0. A 3.5mm audio jack is not included, but you can always use a dongle in order to make that happen, of course. An NFC chip is included, and so is a fingerprint scanner. That fingerprint scanner is side-facing, by the way.
The phone measures 154.25 x 73.97 x 7.87mm, and weighs 174 grams. It is available in Midsummer Purple, Black, and Crush Blue color variants. The phone will go on sale in November in Europe, and it will cost £399 in the UK. Its price tag will be similar in order European countries, but it will be presented in Euros.
