The Google Pixel 4 series smartphones will officially launch on October 15, and put an end to all the leaks we've been seeing. The Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL are probably the two most-leaked smartphones of all time, as they surfaced in a ton of videos and images.
Google moved its Pixel phone production to Vietnam, and since that happened, leaks have been coming non-stop. We've already seen a ton of hands-on videos with the device, and a ton of images leaks. Even the phone's camera samples and specifications leaked recently.
Google Pixel 4 UI videos reveal upcoming functionality
That being said, a new batch of Pixel 4 leaks arrived. This time around, we're taking a look at two Pixel 4 videos. These Pixel 4 videos are actually showing off some functionality from the upcoming phones.
Just to be clear, Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL will be basically identical in terms of functionality / features. They will even look the same, though the Pixel 4 will be larger of the two. So what we're about to say applies to both phones.
These Pixel 4 videos are showing the phone's brand new Assistant UI and usage of Face Unlock for payments.
The video that you can check out below this paragraph (which is the first of five videos on a playlist), offers a look at the brand new Google Assistant UI. This is something you may have seen yesterday, as a similar video surfaced. This video, however, gives you a closer look at the new Google Assistant.
All you need to do to activate the Google Assistant is to swipe up from the corner. Once you do that, it will start talking to you, and ask you how it can be of service. You will notice that Google Assistant's colors appear at the very bottom of the display once you activate the feature. Those colors are blurred out, and the focus is still on your home screen, or wherever else you navigated to before you activated the Google Assistant.
On that very same playlist, several other videos are included. You can take a look at the new Assistant Photos (and its search functionality) and YouTube Search, in addition to the Continued Conversation feature. There are five videos in total included on this playlist.
This is how you'll be able to use face unlock for payment purposes
The second video (which is not a part of the aforementioned playlist), the one you can check out below this paragraph, shows how payments work using the Pixel 4's face unlock feature. For example, if you navigate to the Google Play Store, and opt to purchase something, you will be able to verify that purchase using Google's face unlock feature.
A pop-up menu will appear, and the phone will try to verify your face. Once that happens, you will simply need to confirm the purchase, and that is pretty much it. This is a similar process to the one implemented in iOS.
That is pretty much it as far as these videos are concerned. Both videos have been published by "Mishaal Rahman", and are XDA Developers-branded, by the way.
The Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL will look the same, as already mentioned. The Pixel 4 XL will be larger, as it will have a higher-res display, and a bigger battery. Both phones will be made out of metal and glass, and will feature a rather thick forehead. Google will implement some advanced sensors up there, for Motion Sense and Face Unlock features.
The Snapdragon 855 is said to fuel both phones, while both devices will include 6GB of RAM. Android 10 will come pre-installed on these two smartphones, while an in-display fingerprint scanner is also expected to be a part of the package.
