Vivo NEX 3 comes in both 4G and 5G variants
The company actually announced two variants of the phone, one with 5G support, and one without it. The two phones are more or less identical aside from 5G connectivity. So, the Vivo NEX 3 5G has the Snapdragon X50 modem, while the 4G variant does not.
This smartphone has the highest screen-to-body ratio in the market, almost certainly. The Vivo NEX 3 comes with a 99.6-percent screen-to-body ratio, claims the company.
The phone is made out of metal and glass, and it features a pop-up selfie camera setup (two cameras) at the top. This phone also comes with a so-called “Waterfall Display”, which takes up more of the sides than your regular curved display. That display is actually part of the reason why this phone has such high screen-to-body ratio.
The phone features rounded corners, and rounded display corners. An in-display fingerprint scanner is included here as well, an optical one. Three cameras sit on the back of the phone in a circular setup. The phone’s back side is curved, and the “NEX” logo is visible back there as well.
No physical buttons in sight
The Vivo NEX 3 does not have your regular physical buttons on the side, it doesn’t have physical buttons period. This phone comes with touch-sensitive power / lock, volume up, and volume down buttons. There is a ridge on the right side which indicates where the power / lock button is located, though.
The device features a 6.89-inch fullHD+ (2256 x 1080) AMOLED display with HDR10 support. The phone is fueled by the Snapdragon 855 Plus 64-bit octa-core processor, and comes in 8GB and 12GB RAM variants. Those two variants include 256GB / 512GB of UFS 3.0 storage, respectively.
Android 9 Pie comes pre-installed on the device, along with Vivo’s Funtouch OS 9.1. A 4,500mAh battery is also included here, and it supports 44W ultra-fast charging.
64-megapixel camera is included on the back
On the back of the phone, you’ll find 64, and two 13-megapixel cameras. That 64-megapixel sensor comes from Samsung’s ISOCELL (Samsung GW1 sensor), and we’re looking at 0.8um, and an f/1.7 aperture lens. One of the two 13-megapixel cameras comes with a 120-degree ultra-wide lens. The other one features a telephoto lens for 2x optical zoom, and 10x digital zoom.
A 16-megapixel camera sits on the phone’s front side (f/2.0 aperture). Bluetooth 5.0 is also a part of the package, and are two SIM card slots. The phone measures 167.44 x 76.18 x 9.4mm, and weighs 218 grams.
The Vivo NEX 3 comes in Black and White color variants. The 4G variant of this phone is available in an 8GB RAM variant only, with 128GB of storage. That variant is priced at 4,998 Yuan ($707) in China.
The Vivo NEX 3 5G comes in 8GB and 12GB RAM variants with 256GB and 512GB of storage. Those two models cost 5,698 Yuan ($806) and 6,198 Yuan ($876), respectively. The phone will go on sale in China starting from September 21. Vivo will expand this phone’s availability in the coming months.
