Huawei has submitted two patents with the EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office) back on May 28. Those two design patents got approved on August 23, and were published by EUIPO. It turns out these are the Huawei P30 dual-color options.
These are some new color schemes for the device, and they actually look quite interesting. Both designs split the phone’s back side in two color schemes, with a horizontal line. That horizontal line is placed between the volume rocker buttons and the power / lock key.
Two Huawei P30 dual-color options are coming
The first model combines the company’s Breathing Crystal color scheme with a light blue color. The light blue color sits in the upper portion of the phone’s back, while the Breathing Crystal color scheme is placed below it.
Based on the provided image, it doesn’t seem like this color scheme will be sensitive to light. In other words, it will not change its color based on exposure to light.
The second model that got patented combines black and light gray colors. The upper portion is black-colored, while the bottom is gray. This actually reminds us of the “panda” Pixel 2 XL, due to a similar color scheme.
Do note that this color scheme was patented for the regular Huawei P30 only, but it is possible that we’ll see something similar on the “Pro” variant as well.
IFA 2019 a perfect platform to announce new color options
The fact that these patents got approved doesn’t necessarily mean that we’ll see these color options at IFA, but it’s possible. IFA 2019 is kicking off in Berlin next week, so it seems to be the perfect timing.
The Huawei P30 got announced back in March this year, so new color schemes are welcomed. This will help the company to refresh its current flagship, as we wait for the Mate 30 series.
The Huawei P30 is inferior to the P30 Pro, that’s for sure, but it has its own benefits. The regular Huawei P30 is smaller than the Pro model, while it is also considerably lighter, and more affordable.
The Huawei Mate 30 series is expected to arrive in September, at least according to a recent rumor. That rumor suggests that the two phones will arrive on September 19.
The Huawei Mate 30 phones will be fueled by Huawei’s next-gen SoC, the Kirin 990. That processor did not get announced yet, but it will soon, perhaps with the Mate 30 series.
The Huawei P30 series will become even more affordable in the near future, as the Mate 30 phones are coming. So, if you don’t need to have the latest and greatest, getting the P30 in a new color may not be a bad idea. These Huawei P30 dual-color options do look quite appealing.
