Verizon Fios is already one of the best ISPs in the country, especially when it comes to speed versus price, and right now it is offering a pretty sweet freebie for those that are looking to switch.
If you sign up for standalone Verizon Fios, that means just Internet not TV or Phone service, you can get a month of YouTube TV for free. That's a $49.99 value, and you can pay as little as $39.99 per month for Fios, which makes this a pretty insane deal.
Verizon Fios offers plans as low as $39.99 per month, which will get you 100Mbps down and up. Now if you want some more speed, you can get 300Mbps down and 300Mbps up for $59.99. At that price, you also get a $50 prepaid Visa Rewards Card thrown in. And if that's not enough, you can go all out with a 940Mbps down and 880Mbps up plan that will cost you $79.99. This one also tosses in some more freebies like a Free Samsung Chromebook 3 or $200 credit towards select Samsung tech, and you get three years of Modem rental costs covered.
All three of these plans do come with a year of YouTube TV for free, and that makes the $79.99 plan pretty attractive. Especially with those speeds.
Verizon Fios is able to offer these speeds because it has a fiber-optic network. This allows you to get faster speeds on both the upload and download. Other ISPs like Comcast and AT&T can offer some pretty fast downloads, but the uploads are still pretty slow. Take Comcast for instance. You can get on their 400Mbps plan, which will usually give you a little more than the advertised 400Mbps, but on the upload side, you won't crack 20Mbps. Which is pretty crazy to think about.
Meanwhile, Fios is able to match the upload and download speeds for the most part – the 940 vs 880 on the higher-end plan is still pretty close though.
Those that do a lot of streaming or are looking to cut the cord, this is definitely going to be the ISP for you. Verizon offers some fast speeds, that makes it great for families that have many people in the home streaming content or playing online games all of the time.
With these speeds, you can have four streams of Netflix going in 4K at the same time, and never see any buffering. Now that is rather impressive.
If you're looking to switch to a new ISP, because you don't like your current one, then now is the time to do so. But before you do decide to switch to Verizon Fios, make sure to check out their coverage map. It is currently only available in a handful of cities and States on the east coast. So if you live in the middle of the country or even on the west coast, you likely won't have any service from Verizon Fios. Which is rather unfortunate.
