Make Your OnePlus 7 Pro Even Faster By Disabling Animations

The OnePlus 7 Pro is one of the fastest phones in the market at the moment, if not the fastest one. The phone comes with top-of-the-line specs, well-optimized software, and a 90Hz display refresh rate, which make it run really, really smoothly.

That being said, you can speed up the OnePlus 7 Pro even more, if you want. You can do so by disabling animations on a system level, and you can do that without root or anything of the sort. This procedure for disabling animations applies for pretty much every Android phone out there, and we'll explain it step-by-step.

Once you disable the phone's animations, it will jump to apps straight away, without prompting pre-determined animations, and thus allow you to access those apps faster than usual, especially if they're running in the background. You can also opt for faster animations instead of disabling them, and we'll explain to you how to do that as well.

The first thing you need to do, is access the OnePlus 7 Pro's settings. You can do so by opening the app drawer and finding the Settings icon, or simply swiping down to access the notification shade, and you'll notice the gear icon on the right side, as shown in an image down below.

Once you do that, navigate to "About phone". Once you open that menu, you will see the phone's "Build number", in my case, it's "Oxygen OS 9.5.7.GM21BA, because I have OxygenOS 9.5.7 update installed. You need to tap on that build number a bunch of times, until you get the "You are now a developer" message, or something of the sort.

Once that is done, return to the Settings menu, and open the "System" sub-menu. In that sub-menu, you will notice the "Developer options" sub-menu, which was not there before. Tap that, and once you do, you will need to scroll down until you stumble upon "Window animation scale", "Transition animation scale", and "Animator duration scale" options.

Those three options are set to 1x by default, and in order to completely disable animations, you will need to select the "Animation off" option for all three of them. You can do that by tapping on each of them separately, after which you'll get a pop-up menu with the option to disable animations. If you'd like to keep animations, but get them to be faster, you can select the "Animation scale .5x" option, instead of disabling a specific animation completely.

You can also mix-and-match, each of these options are self-explanatory, so you can decide to keep some of them at 1x, and disable others. If you disable the "Animator duration scale", you will notice the most difference, as that option is directly connected with the speed of animations on a system level.

Let's just assume that you want the best possible result, and you disabled all animations. After you do that, you will instantly notice that navigating your phone is much faster, and that, in combination with a 90Hz refresh rate, will make the phone feel even faster than it did before. You can check whether your phone is set to a 90Hz display refresh rate by opening the Settings, and navigation to the Display sub-menu. There, you will notice the "Screen refresh rate" option.
