Sony Not Holding Back: Video Reveals Xperia 20 Design

The other day, the Sony Xperia 2 renders surfaced in both images and video, and the same has just happened with the Xperia 20. A video showing the device’s whole design has appeared on Pricebaba, who published that in collaboration with @OnLeaks.

The Xperia 20 is expected to succeed the Xperia 10 series of devices which were introduced along with the Xperia 1 during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2019. The Xperia 20 will be a mid-range smartphone, just like its predecessors were.

Considering that both the Xperia 10 and Xperia 10 Plus featured the same design, though they were different in terms of size, chances are the same will happen with the Xperia 20 series. We are expecting to see both the Xperia 20 and Xperia 20 Plus become a reality, so this design that the source shared applies for both phones.

Now, if you take a look at the provided video and images, you will notice that the Xperia 20 looks extremely similar to the Xperia 10, almost identical, in fact. The Xperia 20 will feature a display with a 21:9 display aspect ratio, just like the Xperia 10, if these images are to be believed… the display’s aspect ratio is easily noticeable here.

The phone’s bezels will be quite noticeable based on these renders, and that goes for all of its bezels, basically, not just its top and bottom ones. The device will include two horizontally-aligned cameras on the back, and right above them, a dual-LED flash will sit. Sony’s branding will also be present on the back of this phone, while a fingerprint scanner will sit on the right, below the phone’s volume rocker.

There is a flap on the left-hand side of the phone, and underneath it, Sony will probably include both SIM card and microSD card slots. A 3.5mm headphone jack is also a part of this package, and it sits at the top of the phone, while a Type-C USB port is placed at the bottom of the phone. In addition to that, the phone’s loudspeaker also sits at the bottom, along with a microphone.

The source hints that there will be three main differences between the Xperia 10 and Xperia 20, in terms of the design. The Xperia 20 will be made out of metal, with a glass or plastic back, unlike the Xperia 10, which featured an all-metal unibody construction.

The second difference comes to speakers, the Xperia 10 shipped with two loudspeaker grills, while the Xperia 10 will sport a single row of speaker holes at the very bottom of the device. The third, and last difference comes to the power button. The Xperia 10 included a dedicated power key, while the Xperia 20 will not, the power key will be integrated into the fingerprint scanner.

The Xperia 20 is expected to ship with a 6-inch display, while its dimensions will roughly equal 157.8 x 68.9 x 8.14mm, says the source. The device will likely be fueled by the Snapdragon 600 or 700 series processor, though it is to be expected that Sony includes a 700 series chip due to the fact the Xperia 10 shipped with the Snapdragon 630. The Xperia 20 will not launch anytime soon, though, so you can expect to see plenty of spec info in the coming weeks / months.
