We’ve spotted a number of new HONOR trademarks at the EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office). HONOR actually trademarked 10 new names with the EUIPO, including the HONOR 30A, 40A, 50A, 20C, 30C, 40C, 20X, 30X, 40X, and 50X.
EUIPO does not share any additional info, which is something we’re used to. These are only name trademarks, after all, and we can only guess what HONOR plans to do with them. It is even possible that not all of them will be used by the company, but HONOR wants to make sure they’re ready to go if needed.
HONOR is primarily a smartphone manufacturer, but the company has dabbled in some other devices, such as earphones. Still, based on sheer names of these trademarks, these are probably aimed to be used for smartphones, The HONOR 20 is expected to launch mid-2019, as a successor to the HONOR 10 which arrived in May last year. As you can see, the HONOR 20C name is included amongst trademarked names, so that could indicate a different version of the HONOR 20 flagship, quite probably a mid-range one.
HONOR did not introduce the HONOR 10 last year, though we did the HONOR 10 Lite being announced. Perhaps HONOR is changing the name of the mid-range variant of the device, and aims to use the HONOR 20c name instead of the HONOR 20 Lite. We’re only guessing here, of course.
The rest of these names seem to be connected to the company’s flagship handset as well, upcoming versions of it. Some of you may wonder why is HONOR planning to announce yet another flagship when the HONOR View20 landed not long ago, well, the company usually releases two flagships per year, one large one (the View20 in this case), and a smaller one (the upcoming HONOR 20), at least that was the case with the View10 and HONOR 10 last year.
HONOR 20, What To Expect?
The HONOR 20 will probably arrive in either May or June, and we did not really see any proper rumors or leaks when it comes to this phone. Thanks to the HONOR 10, View20, and sheer logic, we can assume what to expect out of the device. The HONOR 20 will probably resemble the View20 in terms of the design, quite a bit.
The phone is expected to sport a display camera hole, and thinner bezels than the HONOR 10. The HONOR 20 will probably sport a larger display than its predecessor, the HONOR 10 included a 5.84-inch display, and the HONOR 20 may go up to 6 inches, unless HONOR opts to keep that display at 5.84 inches, which may not be a bad idea as it would make the device even more usable with one hand than the HONOR 10 was, due to a thinner “chin”.
The HONOR 20 is expected to sport an LCD display, like the View20, while it will be fueled by the Kirin 980 64-bit octa-core processor, which is Huawei’s most powerful chip to date. The device will ship with Android 9 Pie, and Huawei’s Magic UI 2 on top of it. The device is expected to include 6GB / 8GB of RAM, and it will be made out of metal and glass, while it will probably also ship with a 3.5mm headphone jack.
