The nation's fourth largest carrier, Sprint, debuted a new customer appreciation program and app today, My Sprint Rewards.
This is essentially Sprint's version of T-Mobile Tuesdays, or Verizon's Up or AT&T's THANKS, which are all apps that are made to reward customers for being part of their network and paying their bills on-time. These companies offer up "free" stuff through these apps, as well as discounts for some things. But for the most part, it's full of things that you'll never use.
Sprint says that customers can get exclusive deals on a number of things in categories like apparel, auto, beauty, electronics, health, home, sports, travel and more. Sprint also noted that it is kickstarting things today by offering up a large one-topping pizza from Papa Johns – mentioning in the fine-print that this is "while supplies last", so that it doesn't suffer the same fate that Domino's did when T-Mobile Tuesdays launched. Sprint customers can also enter for a change to win a trip to St. James' Club, Morgan Bay in St. Lucia. Which is a pretty nice trip to win, since it is all-inclusive.
Other rewards available right now include 39-percent off AMC movie tickets, $20 off a Sam's Club membership, and more. These will be changing throughout the coming weeks and months as new promotions are added to the app.
These rewards can be used at any time, Sprint is not making these available just one day a week like T-Mobile has done with its app. Sprint also added Cash Back Rewards to the app, so depending on where you shop and what you buy, you can get between three and 20-percent back.
My Sprint Rewards is free for Sprint customers to sign up and use. It is available to all Sprint customers. Sprint is also throwing non-customers a bone, where you can sign up and get Unlimited Basic with the third, fourth and fifth lines for free. That means that you are paying $20 per month, per line or $100 total for five lines of service on Sprint.
This is very similar to T-Mobile Tuesdays that it launched a few years ago. Giving customers free stuff, and also offering a chance to win a much larger prize. Now it is unclear if Sprint will be doing a big trip like this every week, or every month for its customers. It's not surprising that it is similar to what T-Mobile has done, considering Sprint is in the process of merging with T-Mobile, and merging two customer appreciation programs that are similar is going to be much easier for both companies.
If you are a Sprint customer, make sure to take advantage of that free pizza from Papa John's, that's a quick and easy way to get food for dinner tonight – because no one wants to cook after work anyways. The My Sprint Rewards app is available on both Android and iOS, you can download it from the Google Play Store, or Apple App Store respectively, and then follow the instructions to log-in.
