Global Variant Of HONOR View20 Android Flagship Is Truly Gorgeous

The HONOR View20 was introduced in China back in December, and its global variant has just been presented by the company in Paris, during its official press event. Just to clarify, the HONOR View20 is known as "HONOR V20" in China, in case you were not aware of that. In any case, the View20's global variant is now here, and the phone truly is a beauty.

HONOR trimmed down bezels considerably on the device, while the punch hole is a part of the package. Most of you have probably already seen the device as it did make an appearance on CES 2019, but in case you did not, let's go over its design.

Great-looking, no matter how you're looking

The HONOR View20 is made out of metal and glass, and its bezels are almost non-existent. The device has an extremely thin "chin" below the display, The phone's display sports rounded corners, while the display hole is placed in the upper-left corner of the phone, and it's considerably smaller than on some other devices.

Now, if we flip the phone around, you will notice the phone's main 48-megapixel camera, and a 3D ToF sensor next to it, while an LED flash lies in that row as well. A fingerprint scanner is included on the back of the device as well, as is the company's branding, while the back side of this phone offers a rather interesting reflection which makes it stand out, it seems like several arrow symbols are pointing to the bottom of the device.

The HONOR View20's power / lock, volume up, and down buttons are included on the right-hand side of the phone, while the device does include a 3.5mm headphone jack on the bottom, along with its loudspeaker, and a Type-C USB port.

Flagship-grade specs

The HONOR View20 features a 6.4-inch fullHD+ (2310 x 1080) IPS LCD display, along with 6GB / 8GB of RAM and 128GB / 256GB of storage. The phone is fueled by the most powerful processor Huawei has to offer, the Kirin 980, a 7nm 64-bit octa-core processor which fuels the Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro, and Mate 20 X smartphones.

A 4,000mAh battery is included in this phone, and it supports fast charging (4.5V/5A), it comes with HONOR SuperCharge, and you will be able to charge up this battery from 0 to 55-percent in only 30 minutes. Android 9 Pie comes pre-installed on the phone, and on top of it, you'll find HONOR's Magic UI 2.0.1 overlay.

A 48-megapixel camera (Sony's IMX586 sensor, f/1.8 aperture, 1/2-inch CMOS sensor) is included on the back of this phone, along with a TOF 3D camera. The phone's main snapper is capable of shooting 960fps Super Slow-mo video, while "Portrait Lighting" is also included in the package.

It is also worth noting that HONOR introduced Sapphire Blue, Midnight Black, Phantom Red, and Phantom Blue Honor View20 color variants.

Availability and lack thereof

The HONOR View20 will start at €699.99 ($795) in Europe but no firm release dates have been mentioned by Huawei's subsidiary so far. Most major markets in Europe such as the United Kingdom and Germany have already been confirmed as being set to receive the new Android phablet, though American consumers are likely out of luck seeing how Huawei isn't particularly welcome in the United States, so gambling with imports will be the main way of getting it over the pond.

What else is there to know?

HONOR's GPU Turbo 2.0 is a part of the HONOR View20, and it is here to boost your gaming experience on the phone. Speaking of gaming, a liquid cooling system is included in the phone as well, and it is represented in a form of a highly-efficient liquid pipe which is supposed to dissipate heat in order to boost performance.

On top of that, HONOR also included an AI Triple-Antenna WiFi tech, which essentially makes sure that your WiFi signal remains strong no matter how you hold the phone. The HONOR View20 comes packed with various camera features, which you will find out more about in our full review of this phone which is coming soon.
