The Best Google Pixel 3 & 3 XL Cases You Can Buy - January 2019

The Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL may not be the most fragile smartphones out there, but they are glass sandwiches - like most. Many have complained about getting scratches on their new Pixel 3 smartphones pretty quickly. Which means getting a case for it is an absolute must. This is why we have rounded up the best cases that are available for the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. Making it easier to keep your brand new smartphone fully protected.

It's important to note that all of the cases listed here are available at the time of publishing. These are not cases that have been announced and are up for pre-order, but ones that you can buy right this minute and have in your hands within a couple of days.

Spigen Rugged Armor

Spigen has launched its Rugged Armor case for both the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL, so no matter which phone you have, you'll be able to pick up this case for it, which is pretty cool.

Like most of Spigen's other cases out there, the Rugged Armor is a pretty thin case. This means that it's not going to add a whole lot of bulk to the device, and that is always a good thing to see. This is technically a TPU case, but a tiny bit thicker. It also has a carbon fiber design at the top and bottom, which is meant to protect the phone when it is dropped.

Spigen has also included a raised lip on the Pixel 3 case. So that if you do drop the Pixel 3, the screen likely won't actually hit the ground, as the case would take the entire impact.

As mentioned, the Spigen Rugged Armor is available for both Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. Surprisingly, the Pixel 3 case is $12.99, while the Pixel 3 XL case is $9.99. You can pick up both from Amazon using the links below.

Google Fabric Case

Google likes to offer some rather unique cases for their smartphones, and offer them at a premium. These fabric cases do look and feel rather nice on the Pixel 3, but they are somewhat expensive, with a $40 price tag.

Now, OtterBox cases are routinely more than that, but the difference here is that Google's cases don't have a lip over the screen to protect it in case it does fall out of your hands and hit the ground. But as far as looks go, this is probably the best looking case out there.

Google offers this fabric case in a few colors: Carbon, Fog, Indigo, and Pink Moon. A bit of a departure from Google's usual naming scheme for its products. But the Fog looks really good on the white Pixel 3, while the Indigo looks really nice on the Black model.

As expected, the Google Fabric case is available for both the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL, and it is priced at $39.99. Though, some are slightly cheaper right now (like the Indigo is $39.10 while others are $39.99). You can pick them up from Amazon using the links below.

Caseology Vault

Caseology is known for its premium, and well-made cases, that don't cost a ton of cash. And for the Pixel 3 lineup, it made the Vault case which is a pretty plain looking case. And for a lot of people, that is exactly what they are looking for.

The Vault is a black case that has a matte finish. It does have a carbon fiber look near the top where the cameras and other antennas are, to coincide with the design of the Pixel 3. Other than that, it's simply a matte black case. It doesn't look too bad, and does add some texture, making it easier to hold onto your phone, and that is of course something that everyone can get behind.

This case does also still work with wireless charging, since it's not that thick. And of course, it doesn't add a ton of thickness to the phone. Caseology also made sure to include a lip over the screen. So that if the phone does get dropped, it won't destroy that beautiful OLED display on the Pixel 3. Also a pretty important thing here.

The Caseology Vault is available for both the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL, for $11.99 each. It is only available in black, however. You can pick up the Caseology Vault from Amazon using the link below.

VRS Design Single Fit Case

VRS Design has a pretty interesting looking case available for the Pixel 3, in the Single Fit case. This is a case that you can use to add some texture to your Pixel 3 smartphone and be able to hold onto your phone a bit better.

This case has a waved texture on the back, which gives it an interesting look, but more importantly, it makes it easier to hold onto. Since the Pixel 3 is already a glass-backed smartphone, being able to hold onto it better is definitely a good thing. It does have openings on the back for fingerprint sensor and the camera module, and it doesn't get in the way of the camera module, which is important.

VRS Design offers this case in both black and white, so it'll match the black and white Pixel 3 models quite nicely. Unfortunately, there is no "not pink" case to go with the not pink color of the Pixel 3 or Pixel 3 XL. But the black should still look perfectly fine on that one.

The Single Fit case is available for both the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. They are also priced at $10.99 each, making this a rather inexpensive case. You can pick it up for both Pixel 3 models from Amazon using the link below.

Ringke Onyx

Ringke is another company that has made its name over the years for providing some rather impressive cases for smartphones, at pretty cheap prices. And the Ringke Onyx is no different here. It is available for both the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL, and it is also available in a couple of different colors. There's the black for most people, then a lilac purple, which is an interesting choice, but it does look nice on the Pixel 3 in black and white.

This is technically a TPU case, like Spigen's Rugged Armor case at the top of this list. But this one also has a brushed metal look on the back, that offers a rather interesting look. It also sports carbon fiber on the top and bottom, to reinforce those areas, as that is usually what hits the ground when the phone is dropped.

Ringke has included a lip for the screen, so should the phone hit the ground, the screen will be protected and hopefully won't shatter. Though that isn't something that Ringke is able to guarantee. And that's for obvious reasons, as there is bound to be at least one person that drops their phone and the case doesn't work as it should, then Ringke has an issue on their hands.

There is also a bevelled edge around the fingerprint sensor, which makes it easier to find the sensor and use it to unlock your phone or log into apps and such using the sensor. This is a really good looking case, and should work very well for keeping your smartphone nice and secure, even if you are a bit clumsy.

As mentioned, the Ringke Onyx is available in both Black and Lilac Purple for both the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. The black color is actually slightly cheaper at $8.99, while the Lilac Purple is $9.99, making these the cheapest on this list. You can pick up both, in either color, from Amazon using the links down below.

Wrap Up

Cases are a necessary evil. Most of us would rather keep our smartphone naked, because we paid for the look and design of the smartphone, and it also keeps it thin and lightweight. But we all know that life is bound to happen, and could force us to drop our smartphone. If it is naked, then that could be the end of that smartphone, especially with most being glass smartphones these days. But with a case, you won't need to worry as much, as it will likely take the majority of the damage.

But the good thing is with cases, there are a ton of great cases out there, so you can likely find one that you like, that will also protect your smartphone, and after all, that's the entire point of picking one up. However, many of us would rather hit the happy medium of being able to use a case that does not make our smartphone bulky, and instead keeps it rather thin and light. Luckily there are a ton of cases available that can do just that.

All of the cases on this list are great for protecting the Pixel 3 or Pixel 3 XL. The only exception being Google's Fabric case. But the only problem with Google's case is the fact that it does not have a lip over the display, which actually makes it easier to use the phone. So there are some trade-offs here, especially with the rather thin bezels on the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL nowadays. But these will all work great for keeping your phone safe in your pocket or in your hand.
