The holidays are fast approaching, with shipping deadlines coming even quicker. Which means it's time to finish out your gift list for this year and make sure you have something for everyone on your list. Today, Android Headlines is taking a look at three gifts that would be perfect to pick up for your dad. These fit all different price ranges, so you have an option for everyone.
Keurig K575 Coffee Maker
Everyone loves to drink coffee, and with the Keurig K575, you'll be able to make coffee at home, with the push of a button - and some water. This will brew for 12-ounce cups, so you can have your morning coffee ready to go in just a few minutes. This uses K-Cups, which are small cups that you put into the coffee maker and it brews it with the hot water inside the coffee maker. Just about every coffee brand you can think of has their own K-Cups available for using with Keurig machines. Including Starbucks, Dunkin' Donuts and many others. Making it super simple to make coffee, tea, and even some hot chocolate. So no matter what you are in the mood for, you're all set. The K575 also allows you to adjust the strength of the coffee, so if you like your coffee a bit stronger, you can make it stronger at the touch of a button. This normally retails for somewhere around $150, but during the holiday season it is usually closer to around $120.
Roku Streaming Stick+
Another great option to pick up for your parents is a Roku Streaming Stick+. This is an HDMI streaming stick that you can plug into your TV and make your TV a smart TV. The updated Streaming Stick+ now has 4K and HDR support, so you're going to get a pretty good looking picture out of this one as well, of course that will only work if the content you are watching is in 4K and/or HDR. Roku has over half a million different TV shows and movies that you can watch through various apps. All of the big name apps are available on Roku as well. This includes Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, Netflix, Google Play Movies & TV, YouTube, Sling TV, DIRECTV NOW, CBS All Access, ESPN+ and so much more.
The Roku Streaming Stick+ also comes with a remote control that will work really well for everyone. One of the more underrated features of Roku's remote is the headphone jack that is there. This is going to allow you to plug in a pair of headphones and listen to what you are watching, without disturbing others in your home. This means that Dad will be able to watch the game without annoying Mom, which is always a good thing. Roku now has Google Assistant support, making this a very easy way to add the Google Assistant to your TV. Now there is a voice button on the remote, which you will press that and you can talk to the Google Assistant. It can give you the weather, show you the latest news, switch to another channel on Roku and so much more. It's a really great feature to have included here. It makes it a really great option if your parents are those that do watch a lot of Netflix, or have a lot of movies and TV Shows from Google Play. The best thing about this gift though, is the fact that it is under $50 most of the time (it's normal retail price is $69 however), which means you can pick this up without breaking the bank.
Polk Audio Command Sound Bar
What Dad couldn't use a new sound bar for their TV? This is because the speakers that are built into TVs these days are just not that good. This is because companies are spending more time and energy on making these TV's thinner, and getting rid of the bezels, so that sound gets put on the back burner. That's where a sound bar can come into play. With a sound bar, you can get much better sounding audio, and in most cases, gain a few extra features which is impressive.
The Polk Audio Command Sound Bar is a great option, this is another one that won't cost a whole lot (at least, relative to the other sound bars), and it even has Amazon Alexa built-in. Polk Audio essentially took an Echo Dot and put it in the middle of this sound bar. With Alexa, you can control the volume of the sound coming out of the sound bar, and you can also ask Alexa for different things like how the weather is and so forth. Alexa will not be able to control your TV unfortunately, unless you do have a HDMI ARC port on your TV and use that port for this sound bar. But this is a really nice feature to have included in a sound bar, especially if you have a TV that does support Alexa for commands - like some of Hisense's most recent models.
When it comes to the sound quality from this sound bar, you'll be pretty impressed, as we were in our review of the Command Sound Bar just a few months ago. The mids and highs are nice and clear, while the lows are pretty bassy. Of course, that is helped out with the fact that there is a wireless subwoofer included here which is going to give you some pretty impressive bass out of this sound bar. This sound bar can be used for a whole lot more than just playing sound from your TV. It does have Bluetooth, so you can actually stream music through the sound bar, and likely get a much better sound experience than through the other speakers in your home. If your Dad is one that watches a lot of TV, then this is going to be a really great gift for him, especially it does have Alexa included and he can ask what the name of the actor in that movie is without needing to open up Google on his smartphone.
