Update x2 at 5:30AM PT, November 8: The NVIDIA SHIELD TV is back to $139, it’s unclear why it went back to its regular price yesterday, but it is back to $139 once again. Go and get it before it’s gone!
Update at 2:11PM PT: It appears that the NVIDIA SHIELD TV has gone back to its regular price of $179. The $139 price was likely a price mistake, given how often the SHIELD TV is discounted (almost never). It should be discounted again before Black Friday, though.
Amazon has discounted the NVIDIA SHIELD TV (the bundle with just the remote, not the controller), to just $139. That is good for $40 off of its regular price, and this also brings it back down to its all-time low price that happened during Amazon Prime Day back in July. Though, that was only a Lightning deal, so it didn’t last long. If you’ve been looking for a discount to pick up the SHIELD TV, now is definitely the time to do just that.
The NVIDIA SHIELD TV is one of just a few Android TV set-top boxes out there, and it is arguably the best Android TV option available right now. The SHIELD TV sports 16GB of storage, which is double what Android TV sets actually sport, and that is plenty for storing apps and games. Of course, there is also a USB port available so you can add more storage to your SHIELD TV if you need it. The SHIELD TV runs on Android TV, so you are getting a ton of great apps and games here. That includes Google Play Movies & TV, Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, and much more. So you can stream your favorite movies and TV shows through your TV, and it also supports both 4K and HDR, so you’re going to get a great picture out of this as well.
When it comes to gaming, the NVIDIA SHIELD TV is a great option, especially if you don’t have a console like the PlayStation 4, Xbox One X or Nintendo Switch. While those are all great consoles, the SHIELD TV has the same hardware, in a smaller package. It can play a ton of great Android games like Asphalt 9: Legends and more. Of course, GeFORCE NOW is also included here, which is NVIDIA’s cloud streaming service for gaming. Which is going to allow you to stream some of your favorite games from Steam onto the big screen to play on the SHIELD TV. Now this bundle of the SHIELD TV does not come with the controller, but there is another bundle with the controller, which is about $60 more than this (partly because it’s not on sale). But you can also use any other Bluetooth controller with the SHIELD TV as well.
This is also eligible for Amazon Prime’s free shipping. Which includes free two-day shipping, and pretty cheap (usually $3.99) next-day shipping if you need it extra fast. However, if you are in one of the select areas that has Prime Now, this is also available and you can get it within a couple of hours, if you are in desperate need. If you are not an Amazon Prime member yet, you can sign up for a free trial of Amazon Prime. You’ll get 30 days free (if you’re a student, you get 6 months), and then it’s $119/year (or $59/year for students). Prime members do get a whole lot more than just free shipping though, so be sure to check out the full benefits. That includes Amazon Prime Video, Twitch Prime, and even some benefits at Whole Foods.
