A handful of CAD renders of the alleged Sony Xperia XA3 have been leaked by known industry insider OnLeaks. In the included renders, Sony's mid-range smartphone can be seen sporting a tall display, possibly with a 2:1 (18:9) aspect ratio, flanked by minimal bezels. The phone's bottom houses a USB Type-C port along with a speaker-microphone combo, while the 3.5mm audio jack sits on the top, besides the secondary microphone. A horizontally aligned dual-camera setup is placed on the phone's back but a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner is nowhere to be seen.
Sony has seemingly moved the biometric sensor to the phone's side just like with the older Xperia-branded devices. The recently launched Sony handsets switched to a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor leading to an assumption that the following smartphones from the brand will also maintain the trend, but that now seems untrue. The report further adds that the alleged Xperia XA3 will ship with a 5.9-inch display with an FHD+ resolution of 2,160 x 1,080 pixels in an 18:9 aspect ratio, as previously stated. At its thickest point, the handset will measure 8.9mm, which includes the slight camera protrusion, while its overall dimensions will be 155.7 x 68.3 x 8.4mm. Given OnLeaks' track record of delivering accurate smartphone renders ahead their official release, it wouldn't be surprising if this leak turns out to be true further down the line.
Last August, the Sony H4493 smartphone was found listed on the Geekbench benchmarking website which was believed to be the Xperia XA3. It was equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor clocked at 2.21GHz together with 6GB of RAM. The unit was running a rather old Android 8.0 Oreo OS and the Japanese company may choose to replace it with the newer Android 9 Pie version for the retail units. Multiple models of the mid-tier phone have already been certified by the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) and TENAA but their launch timeline still remains unclear. The Xperia XA3 Ultra is also rumored to soon join Sony's mid-range smartphone lineup, however, the device continues being a mystery as not much information about it has surfaced yet.
