Pixel 3, Slate, Home Hub & More: Google 2018 Fall Hardware Event Recap

Everything Google announced during its 2018 Fall hardware event in New York on October 9

After much anticipation and speculation Google took to the stage today to host its hardware event and unveil a number of products built upon the company's ethos of combining artificial intelligence (AI) with software and hardware. Headlining the event was Google’s two new smartphones, the Pixel 3 and the Pixel 3 XL, both of which feature improved cameras and new camera software, as well as a slightly different design. Although the design of the Pixel 3 XL is a little more different compared to the standard model due to the inclusion of a notch. And not exactly a small one at that.

Of course, the Pixel 3 phones were not the only hardware devices announced, and in truth this event was a mixed bag with the company announcing some completely new devices, while others simply represented a minor refresh. On the completely new side of things there was the Pixel Slate which is a tablet that runs on Chrome OS and can be combined with an attachable keyboard for a more traditional Chromebook level of use, and then there was the Google Home Hub which marks Google’s personal entrance to the smart display market. As for the minor refreshes, a new Android TV Xiaomi Mi Box was announced, as was a new Chromecast.

To ensure you are up to date on everything Google announced on October 9, below are links to all of the major announcements by Google and its partners. As well as a few additional features and opinions providing insight from our perspective.
