Amazon is discounting the LG 34UM88-P 34-inch ultrawide LED monitor, bringing it down to just $497.99 right now. That is down from its original price of $799 and does bring it back down to its all-time lowest price, which makes this a really good time to pick up this monitor, especially if you were in the market for a new one and wanted an ultrawide monitor to replace your dual-monitor setup. But this price isn't going to last forever.
LG's ultrawide monitors are pretty popular, and this is because it is the size of two monitors, but without a bezel in the middle and it's actually one monitor. Which is pretty cool. It does have that weird 21:9 aspect ratio, but it means you can run a ton of apps and programs at the same time, which is definitely a good thing here. It's also really good for gaming and media consumption, as you will be more immersed in the game. For media, it's great because movies are actually shown in 21:9 in the theater, so it could work well for a small theater in your home. This is not a curved display, like some of the other ultrawides out there, those will set you back over a grand, but it is very immersive. This is a Quad HD panel with a resolution of 3440x1440 which is going to look really nice for just about everything. It's an IPS display which is also an anti-glare screen, so you won't get the glare from lights and such on your screen. This is also a sRGB display, so the colors are going to be pretty vibrant, even for an IPS panel, which is also nice to have here, especially if you do a lot of video and photo editing, and you need accurate colors on your monitor.
As far as ports go, there are plenty on this one. There are two Thunderbolt 2.0 ports, so you can plug in your laptop or another hard drive to the monitor directly, which is also pretty sweet. There is also a USB 3.0 port that is cable of quick charge, for perhaps charging your smartphone. There are two HDMI ports, and a Display Port available as well. So no matter which port your laptop has, you can use them all with this monitor. It's a really good option for those that spend all day at a desk anyways.
This is also eligible for Amazon Prime's free shipping. Which includes free two-day shipping, and pretty cheap (usually $3.99) next-day shipping if you need it extra fast. However, if you are in one of the select areas that has Prime Now, this is also available and you can get it within a couple of hours, if you are in desperate need. If you are not an Amazon Prime member yet, you can sign up for a free trial of Amazon Prime. You'll get 30 days free (if you're a student, you get 6 months), and then it's $119/year (or $59/year for students). Prime members do get a whole lot more than just free shipping though, so be sure to check out the full benefits. That includes Amazon Prime Video, Twitch Prime, and even some benefits at Whole Foods.
