Amazon is currently discounting the DJI Spark and its Remote Control Combo, bringing the price down to just $397 right now. That is good for $202 off of its regular price, or about 34-percent. This is DJI's newest and most compact drone on the market, which makes it a really good one to pick up if you are looking to get started in flying drones.
The DJI Spark is a great drone to pick up for a number of reasons. Firstly, it is super small. So it can fit into your backpack with ease, and not worry about having to bring a separate bag for it, like you would have had to for the Phantom series of drones. That is because the Spark folds up and becomes pretty small. The controller also folds up, and becomes about the size of your smartphone. Which is pretty impressive for DJI, especially since it is able to still keep the incredible video quality. It features a two-axis gimbal, which houses a 12-megapixel camera that is able to shoot 1080p video at 30 frames per second. Unfortunately this one does not shoot in 4K, but that shouldn't be a big deal, seeing as most people can't actually watch content in 4K due to their smartphones or laptops not supporting it - not to mention their internet connection. So 1080p should definitely not be a deal breaker here.
This combo pack here comes with two batteries for the Spark. This means that you can fly with one, while the other is charging. These batteries don't last very long, and that's because DJI needed to find a happy medium between flying time and keeping the battery lightweight enough so that it doesn't weigh down the drone and force it to need more power to keep it flying. So you're going to get around 30 minutes of flight time on each battery. The range on the DJI Spark is about 1.2 miles, so it can fly pretty far from you. It does use the signal from the controller that is built-in, and while there is a chance that it could fly away from you, it's very unlikely to happen with the latest drones, as long as you pay attention to the instructions that DJI includes in the box.
This is also eligible for Amazon Prime's free shipping. Which includes free two-day shipping, and pretty cheap (usually $3.99) next-day shipping if you need it extra fast. However, if you are in one of the select areas that has Prime Now, this is also available and you can get it within a couple of hours, if you are in desperate need. If you are not an Amazon Prime member yet, you can sign up for a free trial of Amazon Prime. You'll get 30 days free (if you're a student, you get 6 months), and then it's $119/year (or $59/year for students). Prime members do get a whole lot more than just free shipping though, so be sure to check out the full benefits. That includes Amazon Prime Video, Twitch Prime, and even some benefits at Whole Foods.
