OnePlus 6T & Pixel 3 DxOMark Scores Appear In Sketchy Leak [Updated]

Update: DxOMark has tweeted stating that this list of scores for these unreleased devices is indeed Photoshopped. DxOMark also mentioned that some of these devices have also been untested as well, but plan to update the rankings as soon as they do test them.

In Short: DxOMark scores for the upcoming Google Pixel 3, OnePlus 6T, and Mate 20 Pro have just surfaced in China. Now, before we begin, please do not that this image surfaced on Weibo (Chinese social network), and that it may be fake. That being said, according to the leaked image, the Mate 20 Pro will take the number 1 spot on DxOMark list with a rating of 116, while the P20 Pro will be second-placed with a rating of 109. The Google Pixel 3 will sit in the third place with 107 points, same as the Huawei Mate 20, while the Xperia XZ2 Premium will be fifth-placed with 105 points. The Apple iPhone Xs and Xs Max will follow, along with Meizu 16 Plus, Honor V20 and a number of other phones. The OnePlus 6T will get 99 points from DxOMark if this list is accurate, and it will claim 15th place.

Background: DxOMark is quite probably the most popular camera benchmarking website out there, and every time a popular phone gets released and praised for its camera, DxOMark benchmarks it, basically. This tool goes in depth on its analysis and publishes everything online, along with separate photo-capture and video recording scores, which are then combined into a final general score. The Huawei P20 Pro is currently the first-placed smartphone on DxOMark’s list of smartphones, though that will probably change once the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro arrive next month.

Impact: Now, it’s worth remembering that DxOMark releases camera benchmarks, and that doesn’t mean that a camera that is first placed on the list is the best out there, different people have different uses for a camera, and a ton of smartphone camera out there are really capable. Still, it will be interesting to see how will the upcoming Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro, Pixel 3 and OnePlus 6T handsets line up on the list, and whether this leak is accurate or not.
