Brilliant, today is announcing its new Smart Home Controller, which is going up for pre-order today and will cost you $299. This controller from Brilliant is able to replace any existing light switch and give the user touch and voice control over their smart home devices. This includes things like your lights, music, thermostats, locks, doorbells and just about anything else. It is essentially giving you one place to control all of the smart products in your house.
The idea for this smart home controller came from the company's CEO, Aaron Emigh, who found that when he updated his home with smart home products, he found that resulting experience to be sorely lacking. Citing that there was no solution available that tied all of the smart home products in his home to one interface, making it easier to use, so Emigh set out to create his own and that's what we have here. Emigh stated that "the promise of the smart home that simplifies your life has remained unfulfilled. We have been forced into an unnatural method of control by using our phones to control our houses."
This Smart Home Controller from Brilliant is actually, well Brilliant. It is able to make any "dumb" light in your home, a smart light. And it also brings Alexa everywhere in your home, without needing to setup Echo's or other products in every room, eliminating the clutter. Installation is also pretty easy here, it only takes a few minutes to install it. This is as easy as installing a light switch in your home. Brilliant works with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, Sonos, Nest, Ecobee, Honeywell, Ring, Philips Hue and Wemo, along with other companies coming in the next few weeks. Those of you that have smart locks, you'll want to use Z-Wave or Zigbee to connect to Brilliant. Brilliant is available to ship immediately beginning today for $299. The company has not yet stated when the product will ship, but it should be fairly soon. It is also available in six different colors, so it can match your home's decor.
