Sling TV today announced it has enlisted the help of Cesar Millan, also known as "The Dog Whisperer" to put together a curated content lineup specifically for dogs. The new "Shows Your Dog Will Love" collection includes 45 on-demand shows which have been hand-picked by Millan to take advantage of the "distinct characteristics that dogs look for in a TV show." The collection is live now on Sling TV and can be accessed via the "My TV" section.
It's is worth noting that this collection is a limited-time thing as its launch is designed to coincide with National Dog Day – which takes place this Sunday, August 26. So while the collection is live now, the content will only be available as a collection between today and August 28. However, looking beyond the availability of this curated show lineup, Millan offers some general advice when it comes to picking the right sort of show for your dog(s), by highlighting certain genres and primary content elements that naturally appeal more to these pets. For example, Millan suggests nature programs and especially those that feature other dogs are always a good bet. While Sports (such as the X Games) and action shows and movies (including Jurassic World) can be good for creating excitement and desensitizing dogs to loud sounds, respectively. Lastly, music is not just appealing to humans but also a good way to elicit emotions in dogs.
The new 'Shows Your Dog Will Love' collection is available at no extra cost to Sling TV subscribers and regardless of whether they subscribe to a Sling Blue or a Sling Orange plan. Likewise, Sling TV by default offers a seven-day free trial to new customers. Therefore, those who do sign up today or before the weekend will not only be able to take advantage of the free trial, but also the new dog-focused TV show collection while it is available. Once the initial free trial is over, Sling TV plans start at $25 per month with the option to combine two different plans (Blue and Orange) for a combined total of $40 per month – a saving of $10 compared to subscribing to both plans at a rate of $25 per month, per plan.
