Amazon also has the Huawei Mate SE available unlocked right now, for just $229. That is $20 off of its regular price, and does bring it back down to its usual sale price. It has dropped lower than $229 before, but you likely won't see it hit a lower price until Black Friday in a few months.
The Huawei Mate SE is actually a lot like the Honor 7X from its sister-brand. It sports a 5.93-inch full HD+ display. There's a Kirin 659 chipset inside, with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. There is also a 3300mAh capacity battery that should keep it going all day long. Huawei is also using a dual-camera setup on the back, which includes a main sensor that is 16-megapixels, with a secondary sensor that's 2-megapixels. The secondary sensor here is used almost solely for gathering depth information. That is going to allow you to get better Bokeh effect in portrait and macro shots. You also have the ability to adjust the aperture, all the way to f/0.95. Now the smartphone does only do f/2.2 on its own, so the rest is software, and it may not come out as nice. But it is nice that you can adjust it after you take the image. The Huawei Mate SE is a great smartphone to pick up and take back to school.
This item is also eligible for Amazon Prime's free shipping. Which includes free two-day shipping, and pretty cheap (usually $3.99) next-day shipping if you need it extra fast. If you are not an Amazon Prime member yet, you can sign up for a free trial of Amazon Prime. You'll get 30 days free (if you're a student, you get 6 months), and then it's $119/year (or $59/year for students). Prime members do get a whole lot more than just free shipping though, so be sure to check out the full benefits.
