Xiaomi's Upcoming Qi Charger Gets Certified By The WPC

It seems like Xiaomi is planning to release a new Qi wireless charger in the near future, as it got certified by the WPC (Wireless Power Consortium). Roland Quandt, a well-known tipster, shared this info via his official Twitter page, and his guess is that the upcoming wireless charger is made for the Mi MIX 3, he may be right. That Qi wireless charger will work with any smartphone that supports Qi wireless charging, of course, but chances are it will be announced with the Mi MIX 3 flagship, and that it is made for the company’s upcoming flagship.

Having said that, the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) also shared an image of the upcoming wireless charger, and it’s a circular device, which is not flashy, definitely. The device’s design is simple and straightforward, while you will also notice an LED light on the side, which will indicate when the charger is on and when it is in the process of recharging a smartphone or whatever other Qi-supported device is placed on this charging pad. That is more or less all the info that WPC shared, we do not have any specifics when it comes to this charger at the moment. That being said, the only Qi-supported handset that Xiaomi released thus far is the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S, but its successor will almost certainly ship with the very same functionality. It is possible that the Mi MIX 3 will sport faster wireless charging than the Mi MIX 2S, though, but it remains to be seen if that is true or not, as the Mi MIX 2S launched a couple of months ago, and the Mi MIX 3 is expected to land in September or October.

The Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 had surfaced a couple of times thus far, though it remains to be seen how accurate those leaks are. Leaks are reporting that the Mi MIX 3 will come really close to being completely bezel-less, as Xiaomi is reportedly planning to ditch the ‘chin’ as well, and include a slide-out camera in the Mi MIX 3, similar to the one on the Vivo NEX. The Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 will probably ship with the Snapdragon 845 SoC, at least 6GB of RAM, and and it will quite probably be made out of metal and ceramic, just like the Mi MIX 2S.
