OxygenOS 5.1.9 Brings Camera Improvements To The OnePlus 6

OnePlus has started rolling out the latest OxygenOS update for its 2018 flagship that includes a number of significant improvements in the camera department along with other additions. The OxygenOS 5.1.9 OTA update is claimed to refine the overall image quality while bringing beauty mode to the phone’s Selfie Portrait feature. In addition to these, the OnePlus 6’s camera app will now natively support Google Lens post this update. It is worth noting that the handset already supports Google Lens via Google Assistant and the new addition just widens its availability in the OS. The 5.1.9 update for OnePlus 6 also includes Android security patches released until July 2018, bringing the device at par with Google Pixel lineup that usually receives such patches the first.

Besides general bug fixes and other enhancements, the Chinese company has added group MMS to its Messages app. VoLTE and VoWiFi support for Telia Finland has been added to the OnePlus 6 with the latest OxygenOS update along with a fix to accidental triggering of gestures, especially the “Draw V” one. Fix for Bluetooth stability issue inside cars and general Wi-Fi stability have also been included in this update. Earlier this month, the budget flagship was reportedly marred by an ‘oil painting’ camera issue, which was officially acknowledged by the company accompanied by a promise to patch it up in the next software update. However, the changelog provided for the OxygenOS 5.1.9 update doesn’t explicitly mention about a fix to any such issue, though improvements to image quality can be found mentioned.

As usual, this is an OTA update that will be gradually rolled out across all OnePlus 6 units active globally. The update weighs in at 324MB and should hit all the eligible devices in the coming days, while you always have the option to manually check for the update. Since the flagship smartphone supports seamless Android updates, the process should be effortless with the OTA update downloading and installing in the background. A simple reboot is required later to finally enable the new update and you can continue using the device as usual almost instantly. Announced this May, the OnePlus 6 Android smartphone is the company’s first device to feature a display notch. Within three weeks of its launch, the handset touched the sales figure of one million units, becoming the fastest selling OnePlus smartphone.
