Instagram is now rolling out the Questions Sticker feature, a functionality that allows followers to ask a question through Instagram Stories. This feature was first reported earlier this month, and was initially only available to a small number of users. To make use of this feature, posters can add a questions sticker to their picture or a short video clip from the sticker tray. Posters can then position the questions sticker in a desired spot and add text. To submit a query, followers only need to tap on the sticker. Following which, they can then type out and send their questions. It should be noted that followers can send multiple questions to the user through the same questions sticker.
To see the questions, original posters just need to return to the story and swipe up to see the story's viewer list. This list will then highlight who has submitted a question and provide the poster with the option to answer a question in a new story. Doing so, will result in the new story (with answer) highlighting the original question as context. However, the identity of the person who submitted the original question will remain private.
The questions sticker is just one of the features that the social media platform has introduced as a means to increase interactions between users and their followers. For example, last year Instagram introduced poll stickers, enabling users to ask questions to their followers and obtain real-time feedback. However, this feature only allowed followers to choose between two pre-determined answers. Emoji slider was another feature (introduced last May) and this one provided the option for followers to best describe how they feel about a certain topic through an emoji. Adding more ways for users and their followers to interact on Instagram should increase the amount of time spent by people on the social media platform – an important metric for both investors and advertisers of any social networking service. Along with confirming the official launch of the new feature, Instagram states the new questions sticker feature will be available with the latest version of the Android app – version 52.
