Samsung's Always-On Display Gets 30 New Watch Faces

Samsung has developed a new application designed to introduce additional clock styles to the Always-On Display feature of some of its Android smartphones. The application is known as ClockFace and is part of the new Good Lock 2018 app suite introduced by the OEM in South Korea earlier this month; however, it isn’t yet available for download from the Galaxy Apps store. On the other hand, the app can still be downloaded and sideloaded by anyone interested in doing so without any issues.

ClockFace features a wide range of new clock face designs for the Always-On Display. There is 30 new clock faces all of which are quite varied especially in terms of looks, but functionality is largely the same across the board. Some watch faces are analog, others are digital, and there’s even a watch face that resembles a car’s instrument cluster. Certain watch faces include additional information such as the date and day of the week, while others appear to include a bit of color in their designs, which is relatively rare for a widget designed for the Always-On Display, as the aforementioned technology usually revolves solely around the black and white color scheme for the sake of energy saving.

The new ClockFace application can be downloaded by referring to the banner below but keep in mind that the app is only compatible with Samsung Galaxy smartphones running Android 8.0 Oreo and the OEM’s proprietary Samsung Experience 9.0 Android skin. Once again, the application is not available officially on the Galaxy Apps store just yet, so presently ClockFace needs to be sideloaded manually. Instructions and the necessary resources can be found by hitting the button below, but either way, it’s likely that Samsung will eventually make these 30 new watch styles available worldwide, in case sideloading APKs isn’t your cup of tea. It should be reminded that ClockFace appears to be part of the Good Lock 2018 suite introduced by Samsung in South Korea earlier this month, and as yet the OEM hasn’t shared any plans for an international release. Nevertheless, if ClockFace will be made available worldwide then it’s likely that it will arrive together with the entire Good Lock 2018 suite.
