Garfield Joins The Tribez On Android For Birthday Festivities

Game Insight’s management sim The Tribez: Build a Village is helping cartoonist Jim Davis and PAWS Inc. celebrate Garfield’s 40th anniversary with a summer-long event that brings the popular cat to the game. The new update sees Garfield and his canine co-star Odie dropped into the world of The Tribez via a time machine. They don’t arrive on the same island setting of the standard play mode of the game, however. Instead, they land in a completely separate island of their own offering players more than 100 brand new quests to explore. The storyline matches up with the nature of a one-time limited-run event in that the general goal of the quests is to ultimately repair the time machine that brought the characters into the world of the game. Specialty buildings and event-inspired decorations will be available alongside the update. That includes new buildings such as a Cat Condo, Purr Pad, and Food Stall, among other things.

The rest of the title will remain as it has been since the previous update since there aren't any other additions included in the changelog. That means users running Android 4.0 (ICS) and newer can download the title and start building villages of their own on the various in-game islands for free - not accounting for in-app purchases ranging from $1 to $100. That's a central tenant of the title, with construction centering around farms and other buildings. Simultaneously, players must explore the stone-age world, expand village borders, increase population and production, meet new characters, unlock building types, and complete quests. Of course, that will include social aspects similar to some other titles such as trading in order to gain resources and grow faster but gameplay can also take place entirely offline.

Meanwhile, the company is also preparing for the launch of its own anniversary celebration, having spent twelve years as a franchise. With a claimed 60 million players worldwide, Game Insight will soon be launching the second game in the series. That's expected to be titled "Trade Island: Big City Tribez" and will launch at some point over the course of the next few months. No further details have been provided on that front, for now.
