Amazon, today, has announced an updated version of its Fire HD 10 Kids Edition Tablet, but also debuted Show Mode and the Show Mode Charging Dock. Show Mode essentially allows you to turn your Amazon Fire Tablet into an Echo device, with Alexa built-in. It essentially turns your Fire Tablet into an Echo Show on steroids. It also makes it better for doing video calls over Alexa, instead of needing to hold your device, you can use the Charging Dock that Amazon debuted along side Show Mode. Amazon says that Show Mode will work with all Amazon Fire Tablets, via an over-the-air update that will begin rolling out on July 2.
The Amazon Fire HD 10 Kids Edition Tablet is priced at $199 for 32GB of storage, and it also sports a 10.1-inch full HD display. Amazon says that kids "want a real tablet, not a toy", so it upgraded the display to a full HD panel here, and has an "ultra-fast" quad-core processor on-board. There's no indication of which processor is being used here, but it is likely that Amazon is using a MediaTek chipset as it has in the past few models. Amazon FreeTime Unlimited is available on the Fire HD 10 Kids Edition, which has over 15,000 books, videos, educational apps and games. These have all been curated to be age-appropriate for kids. Amazon also has its parental controls available here, where parents can keep their kids from spending all day on their tablet. Like previous Kids Edition tablets, this model also comes with a kid-proof case, which is available in blue, pink and yellow. Amazon is keeping the two-year worry-free guarantee here. So that if your child breaks the tablet, Amazon will replace it free of charge.
Amazon has the Fire HD 10 Kids Edition Tablet on pre-order today starting at $199, and it will be widely available on July 11. Now the Show Mode Charging Dock for the Fire HD 8 is on pre-order for $34, and the Show Mode Charging Dock for the Fire HD 10 is on pre-order for $49.99 with a release date of July 12 for both models.
