Smart Home Weekly: Bring Home Alexa With Sonos' New Speaker Bundles

This week, Sonos announced a slew of new speaker bundles, allowing you to pick up its different speakers for cheaper prices than buying them individually. For instance, you can now buy four Sonos One speakers and save around $67. That's not a huge savings really, but it is better than buying them at $200 a pop. And you can put the Sonos One around your home and have Alexa throughout your home. Sonos speakers are compatible with Alexa - the Sonos One works like an Echo, while the others have an Alexa skill so you can ask Alexa to play music on those Sonos speakers - which makes it a great way to get good audio and Alexa into your home at once.

The Sonos One is the real star of the show here. It offers up all of the great specs and features of the Sonos PLAY:1, but with Alexa built-in, so it works like the Echo or Echo Plus but with better audio quality. The One can work with other speakers like the PLAYBAR or PLAYBASE and give you surround sound in your living room. Which is also pretty impressive. The bundle that will likely be the most popular includes two Sonos One speakers and either the PLAYBAR or PLAYBASE for just $999. Now the PLAYBAR and PLAYBASE retail for $699, while the Sonos One is $199 each. So you are actually saving around $100 here with this bundle, and you're going to get some incredible audio quality in your living room, that can also be controlled with your voice using Amazon Alexa.

Sonos is known for its really good audio quality, which is why it is usually pretty pricey. Sonos is also known for its multi-room audio, allowing you to play the same music on multiple speakers throughout your home without hearing any lag. This is because it plays music over WiFi instead of Bluetooth. But that also means that you won't be able to play music over Bluetooth, or music from sources that are not supported by the Sonos platform. But don't worry. The majority of music and other streaming media apps out there are supported by Sonos, so that your favorite services are likely supported. You also need to be connected to the same WiFi network in order to stream on Sonos' speakers. Which isn't going to be an issue really, since you only need to stream if you are at home to hear it, but that is a requirement here.

If you are looking for some good speakers to add to your home, wether its for your entertainment setup, or throughout your entire home, Sonos is definitely the way to go. And with these new bundles, you can actually save a bit of cash on Sonos' speakers that are almost never on sale. Sonos products typically only go on sale in November for the holiday shopping season and that's about it. Which means Sonos is pretty strict on their pricing, but once you hear the audio quality here, you'll know why. You can shop all of Sonos' new bundles using the link below.
