Honor 10 Launching In India On May 15 As Flipkart Exclusive

Honor has already confirmed to launch its next flagship smartphone Honor 10 in India as a Flipkart-exclusive device. A new product page on the online retailer’s website now confirms that the Android phone will debut in the country on May 15, the same day it will be announced in London for European markets. A ‘Notify Me’ page recently went live on Flipkart’s website where the users can register their interest in the upcoming smartphone to receive updates with details about its availability. It will replace the Honor View 10 to become Honor’s flagship offering in the South Asian market while sporting a similar set of internals but an upgraded design to follow more recent trends. The 10 will distinguish itself from the latter with a notched display and a reflective back.

The high-end handset was announced last month in China and has since been expected to roll out in more markets in the following months. Honor started teasing its launch in India later in April calling it “The OnePlus Killer” to most certainly mock the upcoming OnePlus 6 smartphone that is also expected to include a similar notched display as the Honor 10. This came a few days after Huawei’s subsidiary Honor announced an event in London scheduled for May 15 to officially unveil the device for global markets. Except for the pricing details specific to each market, all the specifications of the Honor 10 were revealed at its launch in China. At a glance, the smartphone seems to have borrowed a couple of design elements from the P20 series launched by Honor’s parent company a few weeks back. These include a display cutout with a fingerprint scanner on the bottom bezel and the two gradient color options it was announced in.

In terms of specifications, the Honor 10 flagship smartphone is powered by Huawei’s in-house Kirin 970 SoC, which is also found inside all the high-end smartphones launched by either company. The device features a 5.84-inch IPS LCD display with an FHD+ resolution that is surrounded by significantly thinner bezels. It has 6GB of RAM paired with either 64GB or 128GB of internal memory and comes pre-installed with Android 8.1 Oreo with EMUI 8.1 on top. A pair of cameras is present on the phone’s back with a 16-megapixel primary sensor and a 24-megapixel secondary sensor, while a 24-megapixel camera is included on the front. A 3,400mAh battery is also a part of the package.
