Alcatel 3V With 3GB Of RAM, Android Oreo Announced In India

Alcatel today announced a new mid-range smartphone in the Indian market called the 3V sporting a tall display and a rear-placed dual-camera setup. The handset was introduced at this year’s MWC along with two other Android smartphones from the company. It will be available exclusively from Flipkart in India starting May 31 at a price of Rs. 9,999 (~$148) in four color options – Black, Blue, and Gold. The two companies have teamed up to offer a range of launch offers including an additional Rs. 1,000 (~$15) off on exchanging an old smartphone. In addition to this, the buyers will be entitled to two gift vouchers, one each from Myntra and Cleartrip worth up to Rs. 1,000 and Rs. 500 ($7), respectively. Jio customers will receive Rs. 2,200 ($32) worth of vouchers while HDFC Bank customers can avail no-cost EMI on purchasing the phone. The annual subscription of ALT Balaji will also be discounted by 15 percent for the Alcatel 3V buyers.

The phone was recently made available in the U.S. as an unlocked GSM device at a price of $149.99 for the variant with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of flash storage. On the contrary, the variant launched in India for about $148 comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory. That’s the only difference between the two models while most of the other specifications have stayed unchanged. On the front, there is a 6-inch FHD+ display in an 18:9 aspect ratio, though Alcatel is marketing it as a ‘2K Full View’ display. The screen is flanked by relatively thinner bezels both on the top and bottom, leaving no place for a fingerprint scanner on the front. The scanner has hence been shifted to the phone’s back, placed right below the camera housing. The vertically aligned dual-camera setup features a 12-megapixel sensor paired with a 2-megapixel secondary sensor, while there is also a front-facing 5-megapixel camera.

Powered by a MediaTek MT8735A quad-core processor and a Mali-T720GPU, the Alcatel 3V includes 3GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage that is expandable by up to 128GB via a hybrid microSD card slot. The dual-SIM phone comes pre-loaded with Android 8.0 Oreo and supports 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 4.2 as connectivity options. A battery of 3,000mAh capacity and face unlock feature complete the package.
