TCL announced today that the Alcatel 3V is now available from Amazon as an unlocked GSM device, and it is priced at $149.99. Since it is a GSM unlocked device, it will work on AT&T and T-Mobile here in the US, but it will not work on Verizon and Sprint seeing as those are CDMA carriers. Alcatel is selling the 16GB model here for just $149.99, which is a bargain for what you're getting here.
The Alcatel 3V was first shown off at CES in Las Vegas and later announced officially at Mobile World Congress in February. This is part of Alcatel's newest lineup, which includes the 1X and a few other devices. The 3V is basically a "premium" mid-range device, but its price tag does say different. It sports a 6-inch, 18:9 aspect ratio display with a resolution of 1080×2160. So you're getting a large 6-inch display with a full HD+ resolution (even though TCL is marketing it as a "custom 2K" display). It is powered by the MediaTek MT8735A processor, which is a quad-core chipset clocked at 1.45GHz, and that is paired with the Mali-T720MP2 GPU along with 2GB of RAM. There is 16GB of storage available here, with a micro SD card slot available for expanding the storage. On the camera-front, there's two cameras on the back, with a 12-megapixel main sensor that has a f/2.2 aperture, and a secondary camera that is a 2-megapixel sensor with a f/2.4 aperture. There's also a 5-megapixel camera around front. Powering this device is a 3000mAh capacity battery, which is going to keep it running all day long.
Alcatel has created a pretty decent mid-range device here in the 3V, which is going to be enough for phone for a lot of people, and it is also priced pretty affordable – even cheaper than the Moto G6 which used to be the poster-child for affordable smartphones. Alcatel has also included a fingerprint sensor on the backside, as well as facial recognition, so you have multiple ways to keep the Alcatel 3V secured.
