Sony's Xperia XZ2 lineup and the Xperia A2 are now available for purchase in the United Kingdom, with Vodafone UK confirming their immediate availability. The wireless carrier hasn't mentioned the smaller Xperia XZ2 Compact, though that particular model is being offered by O2 alongside its larger counterpart, also starting today. Customers who opt to purchase either one of Sony's latest Android flagships from O2 are eligible to receive a free pair of Sony's WF1000X wireless headphones which are regularly priced at around £180, with the mobile service provider pointing out that promotion is only valid for purchases made before May 2. A separate promotion running until June 29 will grant you a free year of PlayStation Plus subscription valued at £50 alongside either the Xperia XZ2 or Xperia XZ2 Compact, O2 said, adding that the White Silver variants of the devices are exclusive to its network in the country.
Both telecom giants are offering the larger Xperia XZ2 at a similar price, with Vodafone UK having it start at £19 and £51 on its Red Extra 16GB plan, whereas O2 is selling it for £39.99 upfront and £42 per month on one of its basic plans. The smaller Xperia XZ2 Compact starts at £119.99 down and £33 monthly, with all of those offers being based on two-year plans. Besides Vodafone UK, the Xperia XA2 is also being offered by O2 at as little as £9 upfront and £30 per month. The British unit of Vodafone hasn't mentioned any major incentives like the ones O2 says it's granting exclusively. Three UK will start retailing Sony's latest Android flagships tomorrow following a pre-order period full of relatively aggressive promotions which included goodies valued at hundreds of pounds such as the PlayStation VR Starter Pack and a bundle consisting of the PlayStation 4 console and the Gran Turismo Sport game.
Sony Mobile is still the only major Android smartphone maker that's adamant to continue delivering premium devices in a highly portable form factor, with the Xperia XZ2 family being more effective at doing so than any other previous product from the company by virtue of the fact that it features smaller bezels. The two handsets have been announced at this year's MWC and should be available for purchase on a global level come next month.
