OUKITEL has just announced that its rugged WP5000 handset will become available for purchase on April 17, following the phone's announcement which occurred last month. Having said that, the company has also decided to share some of the phone's main selling points before the device becomes available. First in line is the phone's processor, and RAM capacity. This handset is fueled by the Helio P25 64-bit octa-core SoC, while it comes with 6GB of RAM, which is not something you see often when it comes to rugged handsets. OUKITEL also mentioned that the phone managed to score 73,119 points on AnTuTu.
The company also emphasizes the WP5000's battery, as the device comes with a 5,200mAh non-removable unit. You will also be able to utilize 9V/2A fast charging when it comes to this smartphone. OUKITEL says that the OUKITEL WP5000 can sit on standby for 325 hours, while you can charge it up from 0 to 100-percent in two hours and 25 minutes. OUKITEL also mentions that this device comes with IP68 certification for water and dust resistance, while 16-megapixel (Samsung's sensor) and 5-megapixel cameras are included on the back of the device. An 8-megapixel shooter sits on the front side of this phone, and OUKITEL also mentioned that this phone can shoot camera footage under water without a problem, which was to be expected considering its IP68 certification.
This smartphone also comes with a 5.7-inch HD+ display, with Corning's Gorilla Glass protection, though we don't know which version of Corning's Gorilla Glass OUKITEL used. The company also wants you to know that the phone is also shock proof, and that it can withstand extreme heat and cold as well. A fingerprint scanner sits on the back of this phone, and if you don't want to use it, there's always facial scanning tech, which is also included in this smartphone. OUKITEL also mentioned an app called 'Zello', which emulates push-to-talk walkie-talkie like communication. And last, but not least, GPS and geomagnetic sensor, both of which are included in the OUKITEL WP5000, says the company.
